Is it even doable?
It occurred to me that Woot might be able to sell even more shirts if, when voting on a design, it gave voters the option to be notified by email if/when a design gets published.
I’ve lost track of how many designs I’ve voted for that ended up getting published, but I didn’t find out until much later. Some of which I would probably have wanted to snap up in their initial sale.
Anyway…either some sort of check box to get notified, or even slip some sort of consent to be notified into the user agreement and automate the process.
Could be magical for all involved.
(Now is the part where you can point and laugh if this is either unworkable or has already been tried before)

It’s definitely been brought up before on the old forums – and that was before the back catalog existed.

Do you happen to recall how it shook out? Was it just not feasible, a technological issue, etc?

That I don’t recall. Back then, 1,000 votes in the derby was no guarantee of the fog, let alone a print. My guess is that it seemed like it wasn’t necessary.

When I vote, it’s usually for terrible designs I would never buy. Please don’t email me.

Might be worth revisiting the idea with the shirt team in that case. Passive sales versus pursuit of sales. I could see it helping Woot’s bottom line, as well as those of the artists.

It is something we have thought about and would be great to be able to do, but there is a lot to it that our systems can not do at this moment in time. There are many things in front of it on our list, like maybe an artist dashboard I have been hearing so much about for the last how ever many years…

So we can expect it to happen on the 15th of Notgonnahappen.
