Yes. From Illinois we drive through Madison to get to Devil’s Lake State Park, Wisconsin Dells and onward to the Mall Of America in Minneapolis Minnesota

I think the most recent trip there was due to the zoo. The membership at our nearby Zoo was honored by the Madison Zoo. It is fun to take little children to new zoos, I guess. The kids were young enough I doubt they remember anything. To be honest, I am old enough the only that stands out was the drive home. I think there was some kind of road closure, and the GPS took us on crazy long route through Amish country.

I’ve purchased many brands of Wisconsin cheese curds in Illinois and none of them had the same fresh quality as the ones I bought within the Wisconsin border

My parents take a trip every other year to buy cheese in Monroe. One of those trips when I was a kid had us trapped by some kind of cheese-themed parade. For some reason, many trips in WI have some kind of weird traffic event and long detours.

I wish I would have saved a copy from when I used to read this in the 90s! I always grabbed one every time I visited “Madtown.” The last one I remember going home with had Bill Nye dying in a vinegar and baking soda explosion. … …I think about it more than you would expect.

I have family in Verona, suburb of Madison. Fun fact: The Dane County Farmers’ Market in Madison, Wisconsin is the largest producers-only farmers’ market in the United States. Hands down the best cheese curds! If cheese curds don’t squeek it is not fresh.
