Lots of great reviews at Best Buy
worth it, I bought one from woot a couple of months ago. can’t beat it for the price I think
Was recommended to me by a few friends and on sale at a local spot, but didn’t work for me. But maybe you’ll get the one I returned!
Wireless setup went fine. It worked ok for a day. Then it wouldn’t maintain a wireless connection. All the tests checked out. Printer said it was connected, but none of my devices could find it (Mac environment and router). I found similar complaints in reviews. After spending 4 hours trying to reconnect , I gave up. Bought a Brother, took 5 minutes to setup, works perfectly.
I have run this this little printer for over a year with no issues. It works just fine. Set up was instant. Pretty inexpensive to purchase too. The online reviews at Staples have it rated at a 4.3 out of 5 in 1511 reviews. Last week, they had a 25% off coupon that would have left you at $37.90 plus local tax which is about what the new, not recertified small capacity replacement ink cartridges cost along with a one year not a 90 day warranty.
At Staples a factory new unit is sold out online but still available in some stores.

I own one of these that I paid full price for. It is terrible!! The color ink doesn’t print until you put the printer through not 1 but 2 cleanings wasting paper and a lot of ink. I’d invest a bit more and get a better printer. This one will cost you more overall in ink.
My wife bought this one of the last times Woot offered it, and it’s a good printer so far. It was a little messy trying to set up the Google Cloud Print because she had an old website account (can’t remember which one exactly) that HP apparently took over and now uses for their login service, but we couldn’t remember her old password, and even after jumping through the hoops to reset it, it still wouldn’t allow us to log in to finish the setup. I ended up having to set it up as a non-compatible printer, which means it shows up as “Off Line” when it’s in sleep mode (pretty much always) and can’t be printed to. So if Google Cloud Print is important to you, you may have difficulty with this printer if your HP credentials are out of date.
Besides that, the only other thing I dislike about it is that when there is paper in the tray, you can’t close the cover, so now my 3yo thinks it’s open season on paper.
Picked one of these up on the last woot offering and it is working perfectly for us. Didn’t have any issues setting it up and prints look perfect. It replaced an older HP printer that I had that had continuous issues with. It didn’t come with a cable to hard wire the printer to USB but I just swung it over from my old one. Wifi setup was easy and sending prints wirelessly and wired working just fine. Definitely an awesome deal.
Product seemed ok for a day. Then a dialogistic check said it was missing 16 drivers. Then the ink cartridges are only install cartridges, go empty real quick. Spent hour and half with HP to correct problems. Plus new ink
Not worth the aggravation
4 thumbs down
Does the Brother maintain a wireless connection? I’ve had 2 HP all in one printers including, presently, this Envy 4500, and they all drop the connection periodically. I finally gave up and wired it to a switch between mine & my wife’s desktops.
Buy 3 of them. It’s cheaper than the ink.
I came here to say – and I feel so strange for saying this – that this is probably one of my favorite buys of the last year. I never, ever thought I would say something like this about a printer.
I picked this printer up, new, from Amazon, and I love the features it has. HP Instant Ink is actually really great, too! $3 or so a month to have my printer automatically order new ink when it’s almost empty (that $3 INCLUDES the cost of the ink, not just the service)
The printables feature is neat; I use it to have it deliver an empty paper week calendar to fill out on Sunday evening to organize my week. Occasionally I’ll print out Sudoku or Crosswords to do (beats doing it on a screen IMO) as well. Love being able to email documents to my printer, and I love the AirPrint support.
For anyone who just needs a printer/scanner so they can print and scan in those rare moments that they need it, this is a killer deal.
Just an FYI, that wasn’t an issue with the printer, it was with the ink cartridge. In this case, the ink cartridge IS the print head. This is a very common issue with off the shelf printers that come with an ink cartridge. Most of the time they are not ‘full’ cartridges, just ‘starters’. I would always recommend getting new ink cartridges with a new printer, and using the ink that comes in it to put it through its paces for just the reason you stated.
How much is the ink replacements?
Those who have this printer, can it scan legal sized docs?
I haven’t had an issue with the Brother. The setup was easy. Running fine for several weeks now with no dropped connection at all. I don’t use it continuously. It’s a MFC-J4700dw if you’re curious. Found it at a brick and mortar for same I originally paid for the Envy on sale. Bonus- it has a doc feeder.
