This is great if you get a WiFi camera too! Also, you can put this anywhere in the house and still print to it as long as you have a WiFI network at home. Just think…the evidence is printing just after you snap that picture of your wife cheating next door!
Looks like it was released at around $400. Has some nice lightscribe features. That way, you don’t need a lightscribe drive in every computer in the house to print on CD’s, this one printer can do it all for you.
I have a similar model (C6280) that doesn’t include the CD burner/printer, and I’m very happy with it. Photo quality is excellent (six inks + black), and having a wireless connection to your printer is fantastic.
Only minor beefs:
Customizing the photo-print settings could be a lot easier (don’t buy this for Grandma)
The thing is noisy. It makes all kinds of whirs and clicks and pings, some of which sound like the cartridge carrier is jammed. Until I read up and discovered this wasn’t unusual, I was worried that something was wrong with it.
Last time I checked on inkfarm.com, noboby but HP made inks for it, so replacing them ain’t cheap (the cartridges are a very unique design). But the good news is, they’re really easy to get to (the printer opens up like the hood of a car) and replace.
I researched the crap out of buying a new printer when I got mine, and the research was worth it. So if you can find some comparisons between this model and mine, and it looks comparable, I’d say this is a very good buy.
Once the wireless (or wired, for that matter) network has been set up with your router, its IP address is available through the menu system.
The printer has a built-in web-server. If you bring plug in its IP address in your browser…(ie: http://192.168.0.1), it will display a status web-page with a “SCAN” tab.
There, you will be able to scan a full page color photo, or B&W document, and it will arrive in your browser as a large JPEG file.
It IS preferable to use the included software driver to scan, though, as you will have greater flexibility available for resolution selection, cropping, etc.
That was my thought - I looked around and I don’t think this thing actually has fax capabilities. In the Woot ad, the only reference to fax is in the title. If you look in the specs, there’s no mention of fax capability.
My mom just paid $360 on sale at Best Buy - so I’m going to keep this quite from her but she is having trouble with it not recognizing envelopes? Tells her they are the wrong size?
Haven’t figured out how to get the scans to go to the computer yet either. So far great machine. and she has been running many cardstock sheets through it with no problems.
The description implies this can scan 35 mm slides. Anyone know if this is true and how it performs for this purpose? I have about 1000 old family slides to scan…

I just checked on www.4inkjets.com and they have remanufactured cartridges for much less than the new ones from HP. First deal that comes up is a 13 Pack Remanufactured HP 02 Ink Cartridges, includes 3 black and 2 of each of the other 5 for $59, free shipping on orders over $50.
