Keen A86 Trail Running Shoes

Hesitant… what if they don’t fit?

Ebay

It also says they run 1/2 size small. Compared to what? Other keeps?

compared to the standard shoe sizes. So if you buy size 9 about 90% of the time, order a 9.5 for this shoe.

I’m a minimalist shoe-runner and currently using an extremely thin pair by Feiyue. Any idea precisely how much padding these shoes have? I’d hate to get them only to discover they are twice as thick and have no road feel in comparison.

In for 1 the laces look cool!

I’m thinking about starting running again. What is the difference between these trail running shoes and regular running shoes?

if there’s an issue with size, etc., may i return these?

They have very little padding, you can actually see through them. I just bought these from amazon and got them in yesterday. My first pair of minimalist shoes. Pleasantly surprised about just how comfortable and natural they fit/feel. I just worry about the durability.

I’m showing my ignorance here - these are trail running shoes? Could I still run in these on the treadmill at my local gym and/or the local smoothly paved jogging path and still experience the same comfort?

Trail Runners are normally made of more durable materials, with off-road running in mind, also with more aggressive tread. That said, these are definitely closer to running shoes on the spectrum. These in particular, are “minimalist” to mimic barefoot running, so not much padding, and a flat footbed compared to running shoes.

I found that these laces going further down to the toe and twisting, that I was able to get a tighter fit out of these shoes. I have a very narrow foot with a ton of arch and generally have a shoe tight around my mid-foot, to offset for most shoes being too wide at the ball/toe of the foot.

I own 2 pair, just ordered a pair for my wife. My favorite running and knock around shoe I’ve owned.

I also own a pair of these and am a huge fan of Keen shoes. Having suffered plantar fasciitis in the past and than having it resolved by switching to Keens, I’ll forever be a devotee. These are definitely lightweight yet provide good cushioning and support. The offset lacing system is meant to prevent putting pressure on areas where ‘normal’ laces irritate areas of flexion. Having owned several pair of Keens with similar lacing I can attest to how well the design seems to work, at least for me. As mentioned, they do tend to run a bit small. I normally wear an 11 and the 11.5 fit perfectly. I also tend to wear a wide (EE and at times 4E depending on the brand) but Keens in general run wider than your average shoe and the width of these are fine.

I’m just glad I checked early on and saw these before my size is gone, I’m ordering a few pair for backup!

Sounds good, I’m in for a pair. Anyone else having issues selecting men’s/women’s to complete the order?

These are great shoes for mud runs, if you’re into that sort of thing. Good traction without extra weight, and they drain well after you go sloshing through creeks or mud pits.

As far as sizing, I’ve found them to run 1/2 size small compared to regular shoes, not to heavier running shoes. I usually wear a 9 in running shoes (8 in regular everyday shoes), but the 8 1/2 fits me fine in these.

At this price, I can’t help picking up another pair.

I really hope they run 1/2 size small, otherwise I’d have a set of not very good paperweights :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess the “runs small” issue applies more to length rather than width, based on the reviews.

Also noted that there are “lots of wooters” in the trail-intensive states of CA, OR, WA, ID, and CO so far. If these are half as comfy as my old Keen’s sandals, I’d be thrilled. In for one!
