Exactly this. I ONLY buy woot shirts when they are on ridiculous discount, like $7 each. Cause that is exactly what they are worth these days. The printing quality is SO variable. More than 50 percent of the shirts I’ve bought in the last 15 months have experienced RAPID degradation. And this only with a handful of washes. I own a lot of tees which means I wear and wash them infrequently. By the time I notice the graphics flaking off I’m way past 90 days. I’ve also started to notice a decline in fabric quality. Several shirts are starting to develop tiny holes owing to the extremely thin fabric. I know woot isn’t directly printing these things but MAYBE it could put some pressure on the printers to do some better QC.
Lol. My previous comment in this thread was from 2020. It’s been four, going on five, years and this hasn’t been fixed? I suppose woot knows: comment frequently in this thread is way down over the past 4-5 years, meaning most people – me included – have just stopped buying the shirts. GG woot GG.
All my new starcats shirt are the same way. I bought it awhile ago( Monday, January 29, 2024) I thought it was my new washer but it’s not.
Has this been fixed yet?
I’ve had my eyes on several shirts, but, nope, not going to buy them if they’re poor quality.
No
So the art still peels off after a few washings? Shame, there’s a sale ending today too.
I went back 10 pages of orders to find the last time I had a shirt with a defective print. CS replaced it and it’s been fine. Only special care is that I wash them inside out; they still go in the dryer and all that because I’ve gotten lazier over the years.
My old ones on AA blanks are usually still hung dried, though, as they’re not exactly replaceable.
YMMV, but for the times in which I had issues, they were early and CS took care of it.
Well I was hoping to replace my old Woot! Shirts, but it looks like it’s not a good idea. Bummer.
What happened to the shirt print quality?
I have woot shirts from 15 years ago with minimum fade/peel that I still wear regularly. The shirt itself is falling apart, but the print still lasts.
But the print on woot shirts barely last a year these days. What gives?
Yeah, in the past three years I’ve noticed a considerable drop off in quality. Out of the twenty or so that I’ve bought, almost half have lasted less than two years and several not even one year. Additionally, I get different brands of shirts that are sized differently even though they are all medium. Some longer and trimmer, some shorter and boxier. There seems to be very little consistency or quality control. I used to get these as gifts for people, but no more. Don’t want to give someone a shirt that could potentially be garbage. I only buy these for myself and then only when they go on sale for $6-7 apiece.
