If you look on Amazon, I believe you’ll find that it does not come with the extras that are included with ours:
Bonus Package Includes 9 Volt Car Charger Adaptor, Extra Filter and No Drip Funnel
Does this thing actually work? There is one review on amazon and it isn’t promising.
well the principals of evaporative cooling are pretty well documented. However they dont work for crap anywhere that the weather is predominately humid. AKA outside of the dry arid parts of Cali, Utah Arizona and new mexico.
If you are in Missouri or anywhere where the humidity hits you like a sledge hammer then a fan would be more effective.
I don’t see how they can patent a swamp cooler unless it is their design for it as it is just a wick with a fan and a water reservoir.

I live in GA so this is probably a no go for me… I need a solution to cool my bedroom that isn’t a window ac unit. My fan just circulates hot air…
The Sharper Image has both models at the same price. The Shaper image is always high on prices- so Woot’s deal is not so great.
What am I missing here?
ONLY $50 AT STAPLES???
[QUOTE=shadowplay1, post:8, topic:455977]
What am I missing here?
About right for what amounts to a glorified spray bottle.
But this comes with a “value pack”. Lol.
All you’re missing is the difference in the model numbers.
MCAC0001US (at staples) vs MDAC0001US (here at woot).
Looks like the MCAC0001US is what Lifesmart has listed on their website. http://lifesmartproducts.com/coolers-air-purifiers/space-coolers/
woot really needs to step their game up. this is embarrassing.
What a horrible photoshop “showing” this “product” in use.
This website used to be about getting good deals on stuff people actually would want… anyone who buys one of these is a fool. Save your money for a real air conditioner of some sort.
How can you go wrong for $51??? And Staples has a better return policy. As you veteran Wooters know, it is impossible to return anything back to Woot.

What am I missing here?
$5 Off $25 or more at Staples:
Comes to $46 with free in-store pick up!
EDIT: Came to $49 with tax. Still a win in my book!
These are great for the dryer hot climates but where it gets humid in the summer they won’t help cool the air. I live in New York State where it can get humid in the summer so not much use here but great for the less humid states.
I wonder if you can use one in winter as a humidifier? But hey, what about addressing the $50 price?
Even the DUAL one is only $51.
Are there noise specs for the air purifiers? Kind of important to know before buying something with no returns.
The XL Purifier is $45 more at Overstock (free ship), but returnable. Eh deal, Woot.
The Large and XL Air Purifiers are also available through staples for $151 each. Same model numbers. $151 for the XL model makes the $549 “deal” here look pretty outrageous. http://www.staples.com/LifeSmart-Medical-Grade-Extra-Large-Room-Air-Cleaner/product_1694108
