Microsoft Office Professional 2021 for PC

I agree with previous comments as I also purchased this item and was unable to use it because code was not valid. Buyer beware

Hi there. I don’t see a purchase on this account. Did you reach out to woot customer service from the account that made the purchase?

For those that were able to get Office 2021 to work then was Office 2021 tied to your Microsoft Account if you look under your subscriptions?

No, it’s not listed because it isn’t a subscription. I bought Office Pro 2021 back in October and it’s not on my Microsoft account.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)

I bought Office 2021 Pro for a Mac I have and it is listed under my subscriptions and tied to my Microsoft account. Thats why I asked if this was tied to our Microsoft account under subscriptions.

Interesting. I didn’t see my PC one listed on my account and I’m definitely logged in. Strange.

I’m just over here still rocking with my $1.50 OEM key I had to phone activate, sourced from the shadiest corners of the internet :joy:

If we think IP theft is wrong, then honestly, we should try not to support such with that kind of purchase.

  • Even worse, it is very much not worth the risk to chance if it has polymorphic malware embedded in it.
  • Why? Anything you do that on the PC where it is installed that involves a credit card or e-commerce transaction on could be at risk at a later time.
  • It is as bad a vulnerability as plugging in a found USB drive (which grunts in Iraq did do and who compromised unknown numbers of ops).

It’s a legit Microsoft key, it’s just an OEM key from a website that somehow has them for that cheap. Like it’s shady how cheap it is. They just source cheap keys from businesses that didn’t use them and are liquidating their assets and stuff. Likely how woot sources theirs. They’re famously accused of somehow being tied to fraud, but it’s never been actually proven. I’m not pirating anything. That would make it free. And yea, black software is likely going to have some kind of malicious component to it. I downloaded the installer direct from Microsoft and activated the key via their phone line.

As someone who has worked in software QA, I do not pirate it. Mainly because pirates don’t work for free. They install Bitcoin miners and Remote access tools, etc. but also because I like to support developers.

I wouldn’t suggest plugging in any random USB keys. There are things like Rubby Ducky USBs often planted to troll people. Forensic people always plug in USB keys on virtual machines / specific computer meant to be compromised if need be to verify contents of a suspect USB drive. There are also USB Killer devices which are meant to destroy systems via high voltage through the USB port.

Reports have been that Microsoft says reselling of such VAR keys is not legal. Users reported MS fraud department has contacted them and asked for vendor info.

What do you mean VAR keys? They’re the same exact keys that Woot is selling lol they are not like keygen keys or something. They’re authentic and activated through Microsoft. They’re just “Grey Market” keys. Nothing illegal about them.

The term ‘grey market’ refers to distribution channels that are not authorised by the manufacturer. While products are sold legally, they are sold outside of the control of the brand, which poses threats to the quality and legitimacy of the products.

No issues whatsoever with the key(s) from these sales on woot, for Office, Visio, Windows…

Here’s a thought: Install FREE Libreoffice and save your latte money for a few weeks until you can buy Office legitimately.

Or you may find that Libreoffice is all you need?

For those of you without long memories, this started out as a free office suite many years ago that Sun Microsystems GAVE AWAY to stick it to MS. https://www.libreoffice.org/

I’ve purchased keys twice and had no issues either time. Also bought a Windows 11 Pro key and had no issues with it either.

I purchased and followed the instructions exactly as indicated. Problem is nothing ever installed. I could not open Word because it flat out wasn’t there. So in turn I could never even enter the product key due to nothing installing on my PC. Too much hassle and feels too much like a scam. Emailed Customer Service and requested a refund for a faulty/undelivered product. I don’t need it that badly. I’ll just use google docs instead.

Sounds like you didn’t download the ISO or mount it as a virtual drive.
