Motorola 8.2" 16GB Xyboard Tablet

Check out this nice overview straight from Motorola

I just found all my kid’s flash cards and replaced X is for X-ray with Xyboard. I’m so tired of those stupid idiots at the flashcard printers using x-ray as a cop out.

Soooooooooo…this does not have LTE?

If I didn’t have to pay for the useless accessories, I might have gone for this one. I think this is just about the perfect size for most use I would have for a tablet.

Yuck!

[MOD: “Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) makes your Motorola XYBOARD even better and more powerful than ever”]

Agreed. Except it doesn’t say that anywhere. It starts off with “Android 4.0 ICS”.

All the Xyboard models have an OTA 4.0 update, 4.1 is slated though I heard that months ago.

Does anyone know if the camera is front facing? I haven’t been able to find a clear answer, but the indication is that it is front facing.

There’s 2. The rear is 5MP, the front 1.3 (720p video)

It has a 5 mp camera on the back, 1.3 mp camera front facing

Many thanks for the info!

I’m actually using this tablet right now. I’ve had it since the day it launched and I love it. To answer some questions, yes it does run ICS and it does have a front facing camera. At this price I’m tempted to buy another for my wife and kids to fight over.

Would not hurt my feelings if Woot sold the keyboards separately again.

Woot sold the Bluetooth keyboard on its own this past October. I bought one and was extremely disappointed.

Don’t let the pointing stick fool you. It may look similar to Lenovo’s TrackPoint (found on ThinkPad keyboards), but it isn’t even in the same league as decent knockoffs.

The mouse buttons are even worse. They must be pressed straight down (not at an angle), so a normal typing posture simply doesn’t work; one’s hands must be lifted and placed directly above the buttons, thereby eliminating most of the theoretical advantage of a built-in pointing device (as opposed to a separate mouse).

I can’t comment on the tablet’s quality. It might be good, but don’t allow the keyboard’s inclusion to influence your buying decision.

No microSD port.
Is the USB OTG, or just slave?
On the fence.

The keyboard included with the deal goes for $99 by itself on Amazon.

Wifi Only on this device.

Indeed. So when Woot offered it for $29.99, this seemed like a bargain. I regret spending that much on the thing, which simply isn’t very good.

is this worth it, or would something like the galaxy note 2 or nexus 7 be better. even though this is new and not refurb.
