“most will support Windows 11” Doesn’t seems like a good buy then, if you get one that doesn’t support win 11.
25% might win a decent laptop on the Wootlette wheel

Intel Core i5-8250U CPU or newer - 50% of customers will receive an i7; 25% of customers will receive an i5 8th gen or newer.
If the point of this is to convey statistics, then Woot staff please clean this up. If the point is to obscure, then Woot staff please stop. Just give us a real breakdown of available items ie : 50% are i7 8th Gen, 25% are i5 8th Gen, 10% are i5 9th Gen, 10% are i7 9th Gen, 5% are i3 9th Gen…
dear rich (or addicted) wooters, when you buy these “mystery” laptops, please don’t return them. or else this russian roulette game will never end ![]()
Just to be clear 50% + 25% is only 75%! So 25% get nothing? I just sold my 4k 2-1 i7 8th gen with 32GB and 1TB for 300 dollars and was glad to see it gone. How exactly is any of this not a ripoff?
Going to skip my usual spiel and just post a link to a Newegg search – 3 pages of laptops with 16GB or more of RAM, 1080p or better resolution, comparable or better processors than offered here, and with a max price of $250. (Again, not endorsing Newegg, just showing you what deals are out there without gambling.)
Exactly where I stopped reading and exited the screen. ![]()

Just for reference, a local non-profit got new laptops and sold large screen Lenovos with i5, 8 gig memory, 128 GB SSD drive, Win 10 Pro for $30 each. W10 was dodgy, so I put Linux Mint on them. My wife uses one mostly for news. They even have DVD drives.
I use mine as a crash test dummy for Linux distros.
The 80/20 chance at the 768p resolution is where my interest died.
The thing that really scares me is there’s no mention of what the minimum GPU is for these. Might gamble if there was a chance to get an Nvidia or maybe something with newer integrated Intel graphics but without that there’s no way I’m even going to try
There is 100% chance that you will get a system with integrated graphics. These are likely the same types of business laptops that are returned after the lease is up that DellRefurbished.com sells.
On the positive note, if you get a complete boat anchor, you can return it. Or, for the more adventurous of us, you can replace the LCD with a higher-resolution LCD. I did this with an old 3rd gen Intel-based Dell laptop. Went from a 1366x768@40Hz screen to a (IIRC) 1600x1200@60Hz screen.
And the other 75% can return it!
Just got mine in the mail. It was a dell latitude 5410. I’ve emailed support at this point. The keyboard doesnt fully function. Some of the letters don’t work. The back is scratched and has marker or gashing in it. For sure not what I expected. Edited to say another thing: apparently it’s touchscreen, which doesn’t work either. Lol
Im going to try mine out tomorrow. Its a dell latitude 5500. No idea if thats good or bad but hopefully its good.
What’s the verdict??
So far so good I just set up and started playing netflix. I will test more items this weekend. Mine said it was grade A not sure if that matters. Did you get your issue resolved?
That’s good! I’d make sure you can open a word document and use every letter on the keyboard lol. I ended up returning it, mine also said grade A refurbished but it seemed more likely that it never was refurbished.
