Bought a refurb one of these from woot for less than $13 earlier this year. Even at that price I would say it wasn’t worth it. Very slow and laggy. At this price, definitely not worth it. Spend a little more and get something faster with more features that isn’t already six years old.
My Roku 3 that came out in 2013 is faster than this thing.
The newer 4K model is often $25 on sale on Amazon also.
The only fire stick I have used was the first or second generation fire to and it worked great for 4 years or so but there was a lot of advertisements and eventually it boot looped.
I think the new ONN box is from for Android / Chromecast TV is probably the way to go. Has a USB-A port on the pro modeling served as a smart speaker when you’re not using it.
Although I think $25 for a 4K fire stick or $35 for the max is not a terrible deal if you already have some echo speakers laying around or whatever.
At least it’s Android so you can side load launchers and front end YouTube alternatives.
Sadly though Amazon is moving away from an android-based OS which means the days of side loading really cool apps onto fire TV is probably over future generations.
How about paying this price only to receive opened units? This is the second time I’ve ordered 2 of these and both products arrive in that same opened condition. As, well both times the products themselves had stange labels adhered to them.
Woots product fulfillment has gone down hill over the years!
Don’t Fire and Kindle devices ship from Amazon Warehouses? (That’s what I suspect due to the different inventory SKUs being used by the listings, hence the condition numbers.)
Hi there- so sorry to hear this. Please reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).
Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.
Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.
Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.
Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS, not Woot.
Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.
I did that. Waiting for them to tell me I have to pay for return shipping even when the original products weren’t as described.
