Target reviews are mixed. This seems to break down a lot and maintain water which can breed bacteria over time. Not a fan of the stainless steel pots as they’re hard to clean well. Pass, even at this price (which does appear to be hugely discounted).
I have the 300. I love it, but there are two problems:
- It’s hit or miss, but when you first try to brew, it may not put out water. There is an easy fix
“Take the reservoir off. Unplug the coffee machine and take it to the sink. What’s happening is there is an air bubble trapped. So, before you do the next step look at where the reservoir connects to the coffee machine. That circular area is the important part. Turn it upside-down over the sink and stick your finger in that hole. There’s a valve so you’ll have to push it to let the water out. Let it completely drain and then put your reservoir back on full of water. Give it about 30-60 seconds and try to brew.” - The tank leaks.
This is USUALLY the seam at the lower portion (so it might look like it’s overflowing and not leaking) Put about 2" of water in the tank and wipe with a paper towel. It will wet where it leaks. A little epoxy, and boom. Fixed! It’s easier if you put the epoxy on the inside (make sure it’s food-safe).
I’m buying another one for backup. Apart from these two things, I’ve not run into ANY other problems.
The main issue is it gets blocked easily by air bubbles. I use it exclusively for its single-cup function and it has been phenomenal. The tank comes off as well as the lid for easy cleaning. Vinegar will help the bacteria if you clean it every 2-3 months. I would absolutely suggest it. I do not use the carafe though as a disclaimer.
Apart from glue & immediately having to violate a new coffee maker??? Is this really who we’ve become, heard animal mentality whereby we purchase deals that we know might not work properly? This is a brand thing, not dissing Woot!!
We bought an older model maybe 7-8 years ago and it’s been replaced twice under Best Buy warranty. (Kid at the counter recommended the replacement warranty, and boy was he right.) I walk in with the old (usually hopelessly malfunctioning) and walk out with new. Interestingly, upon our last exchange, I was told this would be the last one without a surcharge of some kind. However, (knock on wood) this latest has been the most trouble-free. These make GREAT coffee to suit just about any taste. I guess the point of me writing is, if you like it, maybe consider a Best Buy or similar store that has a hassle-free long term replacement policy. It has worked out for us…
I used to own one of these, and it was great until I didn’t use it for a few weeks, and it filled up with mold inside. Tried cleaning with white vinegar, etc. but I couldn’t restore it and ended up throwing it out. It definitely was nice while it lasted.
Ummm……it’s “Herd”. I’m not judging you for that mentality.
That’s every single coffee maker ever.
What is the difference between the 300 and the 305? Is the 305 worth the price?
I have the hot and cold brewing system with the thermal carafe. It’s very easy to clean–just fill it with boiling water and drop in a dishwasher pod. Let it sit for 30 minutes then rinse thoroughly. All the stains will be gone.
The biggest thing for me is finding a coffee maker that is nice and brews single cups without use of a k-cup. This is 100% the most reliable way.
Yep, you’re right it’s just like Woot spelled backward
