This is powered with a water-powered piston engine. NO ELECTRICITY NEEDED.
When you want to reel it diverts the water from going into the hose and puts it through a little engine that then…“exhausts” through a little hose that you attach to the unit.

Also, if this is anything like what I have it’s crazy powerful. This thing will pull the hose and anything the hose gets wrapped around.
The hand crank unit I have now just doesn’t work well, the hose never goes where it should and if you don’t keep tension on it as it goes in, the wraps inside are loose causing jams when you go to take it out. I wonder if this has a design that eliminates these problems?
The flaw with most hose winders is that if you don’t empty them at the end of the season, the water inside the plastic connector part inside freezes and splits the plastic, ruining the winder. Of course, if you do the proper maintenance (empty the hose), this isn’t a flaw.

How much force would this rewind a hose with? Will it easily get stuck rewinding?

It is extremely powerful. Remember, its using the power of your city’s pumping station to power its 3 cylinder engine. There’s no lack of power when it comes to winding even a very large, long hose around multiple points.
I have never had it not have enough power to wind the hose, even around several obstacles. The only time it wasn’t able to wind was when the hose was literally stuck.
This will pull a large potted plant (or several) and tip it over if you’re not careful.
I’m not sure if it would pull a grown man over if you tied it to his leg, though. There is a limit.. I haven’t tried. And no, I’m not going to try it.
You can replace the hose. Just remember that the thicker the hose the less feet it will be able to wind up. And the thinner the hose the longer it will be able to wind up.
I own a different model and used an very thick and stiff one.
