Net TV is nice for YouTube, Netflix, and Pandora, but don’t expect any software updates… Ever. No amazon video.
There’s a wireless display feature built in to mirror a windows computer on LAN but it won’t do full res and it’s pretty delayed.
On the plus side it’s pretty cheap for what you get… The Net TV features are better with just a chromecast for $35 and a regular TV.
That being said, I like the one I have, but if I bought another smart TV I’d really like it to have amazon instant video.
I ordered one of these back in January and it arrived DOA from Woot. After talking with Woot’s support service they had me contact Philips to get in on the 1yr warranty they offer. It is now May and I still do not have television that works correctly. Fortunately they should be shipping me my 4th (5th if you count the original) soon. Your results may vary but don’t get your hopes up! The packaging the television ships in doesn’t seem to protect the sides of the television and I can only guess these are being damaged during shipping.
bought a factory refurb Phillips some time ago for a vacation home bedroom. 1st one went blank in less than 10 minutes. sent it back, no problem. although used very seldom, 2nd one went blank in less than 30 hours. factory refurb? what factory?
I bought one of these about a month ago to use as a computer monitor for my non-primary computer. It has a defect, a single pixel wide curved trail of pixels that stay too brightly lit. However, as a computer monitor with the taskbar at the bottom of the screen the arc of defective pixels basically show up as a slight irregularity in the taskbar.
When I do occasionally use it to view full screen video or if I wanted to use it as a TV it would be pretty annoying.
I didn’t bother reporting it to Woot or trying to return it because it was pretty cheap and as a non-primary computer monitor the defect isn’t enough to bother. But if I’d bought it as a TV I’d be posting a review of Woot’s RMA process here.
It does seem like a pretty good price for a mediocre quality computer monitor (wouldn’t want this low resolution for all day use) as long as you’re ok with that.
The packaging is truly inadequate. When mine was delivered, I found that the box was open and the tv had been damaged. The bottom third of the screen didn’t display and the majority of the rest of the screen was filled with multi-colored stripes. After talking with Woot, I decided to return it for a full refund. It was a hassle to get it to the post office, but I’d like to think I packaged it back up better than how it arrived. At any rate, I ended up purchasing a Vizio that has Amazon Prime and a lot less delay than this Phillips.

I bought this tv a few years ago. The sound never worked well. Then, last year it suddenly had a vertical line running down the entire screen. It’s been like 8 months since the crack and last night while watching a program, it just went blank. No sound, no screen, no power. Dead. Finished. I thought tv’s were supposed to last longer than a few years. I would not recommend this tv. Also, it’s practically impossible to contact Phillips to talk to a technician.
