Hello WOOT community. I am Arin with Pinnacle Speakers, TEAM LEADER consumer division. Pinnacle is a family owned and operated USA based company, established in 1976. That’s 38 years and nearly 4 decades. We are the oldest independently owned and operated USA based speaker company with the longest running management team in the industry. We are famous in the Speaker and consumer electronics industry and known specifically for superior performance, innovative engineering and old fashioned, personal service. STEREOPHILE MAGAZINE’S PETER MITCHELLE said our product was “SHOCKINGLY GOOD FOR THE MONEY”. That was a $700 pair of superb full size bookshelf speakers. Stereo Vision (formerly Stereo Review Magazine) said, “Pinnacle’s model sounds almost as good as our reference Speakers costing twenty times as much”. They were comparing a tiny shelf speaker @ $149 to their studio reference Speakers of $3,000. We do it time and again!! We make amazing products and have sold millions of speakers. We have products ranging from “BUDGET AUDIOPHILE” to TRUE AUDIOPHILE up to $8,000. We offer these exclusive and honestly ridiculous “no brainer” deals to WOOT as an exclusive buy it now, snooze or lose opportunity.
I will be here monitoring the forum to assist in answering any and all questions regarding our products. I have been with Pinnacle for 10 years and I will proudly tell you,we make terrific products. I am quite knowledgeable about our products and speakers in general, but if something is technically beyond me, I have access to one of our audio engineers for the highly technical questions. There is no such thing as a “DUMB” question. These are complicated decisions. So, if you have a question, please ask. Chances are your question will also help many other Woot forum people.
I am a specialist in Pinnacle, although I cannot speak for other company products, I can try to assist in building a system with our products and some existing items you may already own.
Which of these subs do you recommend for an Onkyo HT-R550 receiver? I love to feel the bass and already have the Pinnacle S-FIT LCR 250 Speakers and a QP9 Wood 9-Element Speaker Bar.
I don’t think any of these are ideal if you want a big sub that punches hard. That being said, I received my Baby Boomer two weeks ago and I love it. It’s very tight and musical, but not as big or boomy as you might want for big explosions. That’s ok though because I got it as my front sub for it’s tightness and back it up with a big, boomy 450W Klipsch sub in the rear. It’s the best of both worlds. Add in two transducers in the couch and you have bass you can feel even at low volume.

the 12" Sub 225 or double 8" BabyBoomer seem like good contenders!

Hi, I apologize for the delayed response. I would suggest SUBSONIC or BABY BOOMER depending on the room size. If larger than 250 square feet, BABY BOOMER, subsonic if room is less than 250 square '.

Both the SFITLCR 250 and QP9W use 3" midbass drivers, so the best match is either SUBSONIC or BABY BOOMER to mate to the 3" woofers. We think BABY BOOMER is the best option unless the room is small.

Arin,
I purchased the Baby Boomer 600W Dual 8" Subwoofer along with 5 other Pinnacle speakers on April 23 from Woot. They arrived last week but because of work I just set it up last night. I am very happy with the sound of all of the speakers except the subwoofer. One of the Baby Boomer’s 8" speakers has a horrible vibrating/crackling sound. I made sure that all the speaker configuration settings in my receiver settings were correct but the sound persists. I’m afraid it might be defective. Do you have any guidance or direction for me? I have short audio clips of the sound it is making if you would like for me to email them to you.
I hate to ship it back if it isn’t truly defective, but I’m pretty sure it is. I have one week left in Woot.com’s 21 day return window.
Hi. I’m thinking about getting a 5.0 set up. I’m not really a movie/tv/DVD guy, rather I prefer music on vinyl, cassette, 8 track-analog stuff primarily over digital. Drum & bass, heavy metal and jazz are the musical styles I’m seeking speakers for. Can Pinnacle 1500,450 and similar price ranged handle to fast pace of this music?

Hi and sorry for the problem.
We will be pleased to exchange it for you. I will write to you directly to arrange this. Please email me @ info@pinnaclespeakers.com and I will get back with you. One thing I suggest is use another subwoofer cable, sometimes the cable is the issue. Thanks,

Hi and thanks for the questions. Yes absolutely, in fact they are specifically designed for exceptional music listening results as music is a much more complicated threshold to meet. The Home Theater quality aspects are less complicated. So, in fact, SFITTWR1050. and Baby Boomer sub would provide an exceptional music listening system. I would suggest that combination.

I have to disagree with you there. I own the PS 225 sub and it hits like a sledgehammer. And I have a huge living room, with sub way behind the couch in a corner, and the couch is in the middle of the room.
I’m looking for speakers to hook up to my computer so music sounds better than the ones that came with the system. Would these be appropriate? Which ones? Sitting on a kitchen counter.

Thanks for the recommendation. Our home has an open floor plan. The viewing area is about 250 w/ 10 foot ceilings, and has a breakfast nook and kitchen adjacent. That probably triples the total area. I read the Baby Boomer is more for music. We mostly watch movies and TV. Will we still feel the rumble of explosions like our current ported sub?

Hi Robert,
I’m kind of in the same situation as you. I finally was able to set up my Baby Boomer I bought the same day you did. I had to arrange things last night so I did not get to test it yet. Can you tell me what your setup was and what you played when the vibrating/crackling sound came on? Is it only during playing? thank you for any input. I will find out tonight if mine is good or not.

OH the BABY BOOMER IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE> IT IS GREAT ON MUSIC< which means it is aslo outstanding for Home Theater. That is because Home Theater bass is easier to produce than “MUSIC BASS”. You will be amazed with the BABY BOOMER.

I would suggest SFITMON 450 as superior provided you can hook them up to the computer you have. They hook up with normal speaker wire.
