I’m not thinking this makes a hole?
My first impression was that instead of the jar seal indenting inward as it does after you do the heat sealing, this device pulls the indentation upward/outward to release the pressure that makes it hard to open.
(I envisioned it like one of those devices advertised to pull a dent out of your car lol).
Hitting the jar on the countertop just releases some pressure but from the edges, that is why I just assumed the pop-it released pressure, maybe I’m wrong.
Well, now I really have no idea haha!!

Yeah that qvc photo even says “sharp pin”, so 
If you zoom wayyyyyy in on that last picture, there’s a hole.
I use the pry bar on the end of a can opener and lift up on the edge of the lid to break the seal.

Just tried that thank you, if I had zoomed in earlier I still just would have thought that was dust on my screen 
- still think at least one of those vids or the website should state it makes a hole lol.
