Razer HP-1 Barracuda 5.1 Channel Gaming Headphones
Are these noise cancelling headphones, can you use them on a plane??
The noise canceling is referring to the mic.

Yeah, can we get some sort of Xbox 360 adaption guide up in this thread?

Gotta say, these are othig that great, eve with the appropriate software.

I have been usining my cheap VR3 vrdh200 for World of Warcraft (NO MICROPHONE, but gamme doesn’t need one) and i get awsome sound. I just do’t thik you need to spend tons to get clarity, depth, etc as lond as the 'phones are for digital.

so-so Woot

Look, I grew up in West Union, Oh, and let me tell you, any “interview” with a 22-year-old would sound more like, “Well, uh, I got’s in from walkin’ the cows an mah ears were cold, so I found these fancy-fangled earmuffs and put em on (pauses to spit tobacco into an empty coke can - I’d say Natural Light can but Adams county is a dry county). I musta falled asleep cause next thing I knew my girlfriend was pullin em off. So I says 'Sis, why you doin that? I’m-a gonna tell ma as soon as she gits done pullin tobacca!”

I am a West Union High School graduate, class of '92, and was one of 5 people in a class of 70 to go to any sort of college. It is in the middle of nowhere, take a right. I wonder how a town like that ended up in a Woot! description in the first place. Weird.

Man, this was EXACTLY what I was thinking! Tho, I gradimicated from Peebles.

WHAT?

WHAT?

His “N” key was broken. Place "N"s into the words that don’t make sense and it will begin to.

I have a pair of these. They’re great. Very comfy. The mic is sensative, so you cant’ have a fan blowing on you or it sounds like static. The connector is not hard at all unless you’re an idiot: 4 plugs, put them in the holes. Big whoop. the 5.1 sounds is great, i play Counter-Stirke: Source mostly. I get accused of hacking quite often as I can tell excatly from what direction footsteps are coming from. I’m going to buy a few sets today as gifts actually.

I need some new headphones for gaming, but these are too much.

Barracuda HP-1 report - looks like a decent pair of headphones, especially for the price. If you’re an audiophile these probably won’t satisfy you, but the common individual will see a big difference compared to a crappy pair that you got on a plane. Shame that it won’t work well with the 360. I’d love a pair of surround sound headphones that don’t need any extra adapters for my 360.

Seems like the frequency response and the sensitivity could be much, much better. Too bad some of you spent $100+ for these things…

Ok, from the manufacturer’s website, it looks like the xbox 360 is NOT supported. Meaning, I assume, that 5.1 surround is not supported – of course you can still hook up the things in stereo w/ the right adapters.

edit: sorry if this has already been mentioned, just wanted people to be sure – I’d have bought it if it meant I could have the 5.1 experience with my 360 w/out having to shell out for an expensive stereo

In for 1. Thank the Woot!

So for a newbie. Will this 5.1 rig work with an 8 channel 7.1 sound card?
Im in for 1, althought i use a dell XPS m170 laptop, and am wondering how well it will work with the built in headphone and mic port, should i look into a good external USB sound card?
For your M170 (I have an XPS gen 2) I recommend the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. Fits in your PCMCIA slot. I’ve seen them for $55 lately.

I don’t need to take it with me when I’m on the go, so I leave the card laying on my desk attached to my 5.1 amp for easy docking.

I plan to use these headphones to game or watch DVDs at night as loud as I like with surround sound without waking the roomate.

Also, a confession? laptop gaming in bed.

Barracudas are awesome fish. They operate wirelessly, however - so, it was with great disappointment that I noted that today’s w00t wasn’t wireless. Next!

I can’t see how these could output 5.1 with a 360. They’d need an optical to HD-DAI connector. Connecting them to a 360 via a RCA to 3 1/2 mm converter would give you 2 channel sound.

These are only useful for PC gaming. Speaking of that, does the USB work well?

edit: n/m I looked it up and all the USB is for is power for those headphones.
