Roessler Single Vineyard Pinot Duo

First of all, that is not a long post(at least by my standards). Second of all, at least regarding this particular woot, there was great winery participation this week in the original offer, and so I think most are willing to cut them some slack. With that said, I will not be purchasing due to the reasons you provide(too much for one bottle) among others.

Coming from another relatively new person as well, take my advice with a single small grape.

The only way to learn more is to drink lots. As RPM says, “Pull lots of corks.” There is no reason to go above a set spending limit unless you want to and can. However, setting a spending limit is obviously going to limit your selection. I have purchased a few bottles of expensive (to me) wine, like $50 a bottle. I open them with friends who also really enjoy wine so we can learn and discuss together.

On another note, as jwhite will explain soon, this is a very good deal. Not spending more than $25 is great. However, spending $65 on two bottles that would normally hit more than $100… a pretty good way to start learning.

Warning: increasing spending limit is DANGEROUS and almost pointless since WD is related to Satan and is very good at tempting.

Well, I guess it’s a good thing that service@woot.com couldn’t up my previous order. Makes going in on this deal much, much easier

Also, I think I’m in the same boat as you prairie. After trying a bunch of $15-20 wines, however, I’m at least curious enough and with a special occasion coming up ahem :), to try more expensive wines to see what my own palate has to say of it. Besides, with all of the participation, recommendations and reviews in the previous offering, I’m confident enough to think that I’ll be getting some good juice

What’s funny is I refrained from going in for 2 on the previous one telling myself if something came up I could go in with less guilt. I just didn’t think it’d be more pinot from the same people. Decisions decisions.

Cannot believe i am up this early but with the wifey sawing logs, i decided to log in. Besides i always wanted to make front page. pass the coffee and after buying two of the previous offer i may be only in for one of this offer.

How good is this deal?

Think back. Way back. All the way back to Monday. Remember that deal? It’s almost like the same folks worked up this deal, too. Maybe even at the same time. Spooky, almost.

Anyway, click the link above for discount details, CT links, and other misc. info.

In for 1 based on the participation by the winery on the last offer. And frankly… before J-Dub shows me that my best deal (which I’m a sucker for) would be ordering 3.

Edit: Good thing he was posting as I was typing!

According to the specs the encantada one is older, not that I think that makes much of a difference.

I think our palates are sophisticated enough now to occasionally try the foray into a pricier bottles.

Thats the reason that I am in for one (hopefully with rattage).

Doing anything for your birthday? BYOB place or something? Let me know.

1 quick question:

  1. How many cases produced of the La Encantada?

In for one…

Available for LaBrattage…

Love me some Pinot!

WD: oh, this is dastardly. See how you are! grumbling, gnashing of teeth… “I’ll be back.”

300 for the encantada and 323 for the savoy according to the website. Will also let you know about any other happenings

Gotta love WD, he really knows how to get us to open our (dwindling) wallets in the face of an onrushing depression…

I had to go for 2 of these, I wouldn’t buy them at the regular prices, but for this price I want to try them now and in a couple of years…

I’m on one of my (rare) ‘time to check out California Pinot Noir again’ kicks, brought on by a combination of the Pinot Noirs we tasted during the tour and the 2006’s I’ve had from both my cousin Mario’s and my cousin Bill (Harrison)'s wineries (both from Petaluma Gap fruit). It’s still (and won’t ever be) Burgundy, to which one must turn for the greatest Pinot Noir wines, but it’s a lot better than it used to be and it’s often delicious.

This winery is a comer with Pinot Noir and worth a real shot.

This is one I REALLY want to labrat…

you forgot to mention that you are NOT available for labrattage in DC. cuz you’re going to be in Chicago for CWWT#9 effective tomorrow. now, if in his infinite wisdom WD sees it fit to ship ME a bottle at my billing address, then the EIGHT of us participating in the PSychos’ Prologue (The Chicago Edition) can play the dutiful roles of labrats!

(oh, and in for 2, fo’ sho’!)

so, please please please, WD? EIGHT of us (Loweeel, Sparky, cheron, oppsie + 1, timbyrd, java & me) for the price of one (bottle). surely a deal worthy of wine.woot if ever there was one!

Do it, WD! But only if they all agree to post full Davis (modified) notes! That would be a major learning experience for all of them (about the wine, judging, and the relative palates) and for all of us in wine.woot.land

In for 1, and available (and excited about the opportunity) to rat. Just sayin’…

In for one of the Trio, in for one today. I had to in order to complete the collection. I am just worried what Monday will bring! Oh Woot, don’t you know I am in real estate and can’t afford you to have such great deals in this market. Too good, way too good!

By the way, would love to labrat!

Come on give me a chance coach. Put me in!

TMR, Java-D, TB, Sparky -

Sounds like RPM is throwing down the gauntlet on getting out that tasting wheel and getting down to business. I would certainly vote for a collective rattage. Have fun! Quite the transcontinental meeting - west coast and sort of east cost with Loweeel - including our Michigan contingent of cheron and oppsie (+1).

I’m in for 2. I’m getting low (well, down to none) on Pinot and my hubby keeps asking for Pinot. He’s had to settle for Cabernet.

I am not a wine woot newbie, but I am a posting newbie, and wonder what the labrat is and how you get involved in it? Do you have to post a lot? Please let me in on the secrets, I’m investing lots of money in woot wines and would like to get in on some of the fringe benefits. (PS - I tell all of my wine drinking friends about wine woot especially when I am serving the delicious selections for small batch vineyards that you guys offer. Hard to get this kind of selection in Louisiana.)

Some of my purchases: Wellington, Ty Caton, Titus, Frazier, Esoterica Port tasting (very fun), Mumm Sparkling, Iron Horse Sparkling, Roessler Pinot 3 pk . . . there are more that I can’t remember.
