RSS?

#1

I can get the blog rss feed to work, but the old rss feed bookmark does not. A new URL maybe? Old one was http://rss.woot.com/feed.aspx

#2

The new rss URL is http://www.woot.com/blog/rss.aspx.

I see the feed is giving the pic from the blog which is REALLY small compared to the old one. Any chance this can be updated to use the old, larger images?

#3

1903 people are using the old URL just a blogliness…might wanna rethink moving it without at least a warning at the old URL

I am a comlete 100% noob to this RSS thing and I hadn’t even heard of it prior to reading about it here in the “What is Woot” section.

Can someone tell me how to setup an RSS feed?
Specifically, I’ve installed “News” rss reader Trillian plug-in.

I need to know server, location, port (default 80), refresh rate… basic stuff.

If you don’t know what Trillian is, it is an “all in one” Instant Messenger.

Trillian isn’t the important thing here. Having the basic connection information to an rss feed is what I need.

thanks

I think dave bug uses Trillian’s rss reader. maybe he can help if no one else pitches in. You should be able to just plug in the URL that comes up when you click the RSS button on the front page. Set refresh rate to 24 hours or less.

fyi (in general, not to you EM) something happened with the rss redirector… it should be in place soon for the old feeder. sorry for those that missed out on last nights feed.

I use firefox, and in your boodmark manager, you can go to file, new live bookmark, and put in the url from the rss feed. This creates a new “folder” that autoupdates to the most current woot as well as the last several days’ woots. Really kinda cool

Is there a chance you can post an RSS feed to Today’s Woot, linking to Today’s Woot, rather than www.woot.com/Blog/? Thanks!

#8

I agree. I prefer the old RSS feed that would take me directly to Today’s Woot. I don’t need to be sent to the Blog (with the tiny picture). Perhaps two RSS feeds could be offered?

#9

I agree–I haven’t even bothered to look at my RSS feed or think about purchasing anything since you can’t even get the price/details from the RSS feed anymore. It is so annoying–please RSS Today’s Woot.

#10

When I saw “new woot features” I was hoping we’d finally get an RSS feed that points to “Today’s Woot”. But no such luck–did we ever get answer as to WHY this was changed? Is there any chance of getting the RSS feed directly to “Today’s woot”?
