Sport-Brella Premiere UPF 50+ Umbrella (8-ft)

Sport-Brella Premiere UPF 50+ Umbrella (8-ft)

We own this. It is very well made, much more solid than typical inexpensive beach umbrellas. $20 is a great deal. Considerations:

  1. It is heavy - steel pole(?) - so if we know we are taking a lot of stuff and walking, we tend to instead take one of our “cheap”, lighter beach umbrellas.

  2. That large 8 foot size means we never use it in vertical “umbrella mode” at the beach. Too concerned about it blowing over/away. We use it only in “laid down mode”. In that case it is great for blocking wind on cooler days.

(Our typical beach use is at Lake Michigan where the winds can be hardy.)

We’ve had two of these and I’m ordering a third. They do wear out, but are really easy to set up and break down. I didn’t really think it was that heavy, but if you’ve got a lot of kids and toys and stuff I can see where this would be awkward. It does have a carry-case you can throw over your shoulder.

It’s funny you never use “umbrella mode,” because we use it this way almost exclusively since we go in the morning on an east-facing beach. However, we always use its guylines to anchor it. You cannot use it without the anchors or it will absolutely blow away. It provides a ton of excellent shade, though.

I love these so much , I have two. My original is 6 years old and still in great shape. We always use it in the tent mode on windy New England beaches.
This is a great deal!

any idea if more of this item will be coming? I missed it by a few hours :frowning:

Hi there. Hard to say. These came from Amazon so it’ll depend on if they throw any more our way.

Hey, looks like I got a faulty one..I bought it when this deal came.sometime in April, however wasn’t able to open it until today. We have swim meet tomorrow so was trying to get ready by getting the umbrella ready but found out that the place where the umbrella clock with a metal piece to stay open is loose. We tried a few times to open it thinking that it will stay in place, however it went completely inside. Now the umbrella won’t stay open. I think I am out of the return window and it was not a lot of money but it was disappointing. Something that has such good reviews didn’t work for us.
