Unless you use this to slice bread, do yourself a favor and get a Stihl

My first chainsaw was a Stihl. Worst chain saw I ever owned and the hardest to start. Didn’t last too many years. After a homelight and a couple Poulan Pros and a Husquvarne, I got two Hitachi chain saws, a 14" 32cc and 20" 50cc. I’ve been using them for many years (they are the same thing as the Tanakas, just green instead of orange) and they have been problem free. Granted, the 32cc is not well suited to the 16" bar, but it is okay for the 14, and lots of chain saw work can be done with a smaller saw, especially if you don’t want to lug around a heavier saw. I have very few complaints about my hitachi 32cc, which is identical to this Tanaka. It starts easily, the filter is easy to clean, and the oiler works great. I never expected to get this many years out of such an economical saw, but 5 years of heavy use later, it is still working like new. My small Stihl was junk in comparison. Buying a saw for the brand sticker is a big mistake, unless you like being perpetually frustrated and wasting hours getting it to run correctly.

Stihl as in Still hard to start. Waste of money.

I have 2 of these…a 20" and a 14"…never had any issues with them…the 20" runs hot but that is the way it is with it…strong saws and a great warranty on the engines…
