More about the Processor

are these reconditioned by the manufacturer?

Does factory recondition = manufacture refurbished?

This is a really good question. I would also like to know if these are Manufacturer Refurbished (i.e. by Toshiba)

Would this qualify for the Chrome ‘Goodies’?

I’ve bought 2 factory recon/refurb Chromebooks on Woot and one on another site. All 3 were as good as new, just repackaged in a plain box. Each of them had the Google goodies available. My thoughts are that people buy these and don’t realize they don’t have Windows and send them back. There is almost nothing to break on these simple machines, so nothing really to refurb.

This will sellout soon. An Intel processor with 4gb RAM, and a 1920x1080 IPS screen for $180 is a great deal. This isn’t the fastest processor, but it’s decent, and should be able to run Ubuntu via crouton on it.

Forgive my computer ignorance, but I am in need of a machine to capture info from a business card scanner and dump that info into a decent database. Would this machine do the trick? Battery life is important, as it is going to be riding shotgun in my vehicle all day everday. Thank you in advance, Woot Geniuses.

As long as your business card scanner doesn’t require a specific program to be downloaded to interface with it (this is NOT a Windows machine), this unit will be perfect for you. These things have solid battery life.

This is a GREAT deal. I paid $300 for it new this past April. I have only good things to say about this Chromebook. Screen is amazing, lightweight and more than enough power/memory to get the job done. Even hooked it up to my epson wireless printer and added a logitech mouse with no issues whatsoever.

If I had to complain about something I guess it would be the plastic-y feel of the thing, but it’s a fair tradeoff for the light weight that comes with it.

Highly recommend. Almost tempted to get another…

I’d be surprised if you can find a scanner that will work with Chrome OS.

If you “hover” your mouse cursor above the words “Factory Reconditioned”, a pop-up explains what that means. By the way, I got one of the first generation Toshiba chromebook 13 inchers, and it’s great. I think that I’ll get this, and give the old one (that I got for $129) to my sister.

I am confused, I was denied? but I was still charged?

I’m in for one. Been wanting to try a Chromebook but been waiting for one with a decent screen and 4gb of RAM.

I would say yes since it says the warranty is 90 days and provided by Toshiba.

Bought one of these for my wife off the mother ship in March for $300. She LOVES it! So I just nabbed one for myself. Better hurry!

Would this be a good option for streaming Netflix to my HDTV with the HDMI?

Does this refurb comes with 2years of free 100G of google drive as with the brand new device?
