For $121.00 difference, I would NEVER buy a Vitamix 5200 here with a “30-day Woot warranty” vs. the 7 years you’d get buying this new from Vitamix or any other authorized retailer like the Mothership. Too bad since these were nicely marked down, more than this, during Prime week.
I worked in food for 22+ years, and have had one of these at home for over 14 years which I use the sh*t out of. Mine failed (not the motor, the bearings in the container siezed) about a month before that original, 7-year warranty expired; called them, and had a brand new container within a week or so.
Look I guess if you really want one and need one you can get this one; but one of the main selling points of Vitamix blenders, especially the 5200, is that they are workhorses, and that 7-year warranty is part and parcel of what backs up that claim.
It’s actually a 90 day warranty.
Was it this old style (tall container) on sale for prime day? Or one of the newer ones? Now they even sell em at Best Buy. Although, they’re targeted more for the “home consumer” vs the pro style they’ve been known for.
I got the shorter pro model when it first came out, many years ago. It’s still going strong. But I can’t speak for these newer, lower priced models. But if I’m paying full price, I’d get the shorter container not the tall. I’ve used both and prefer the shorter by far.
I have the 5200, idk if they’ve changed over the years. Picked mine up at Costco 10? years ago & going strong. I did purchase a shorter container a few years back as an extra.
It was the 5200. Which if you want to call it that, is the “old style”, although they’re still making them, “new”. Tall 64oz. container.
Regardless, my criticism remains; 90-days vs. 7 years is a crazy sacrifice for something that, if you use it the way it’s built to be used, is likely to take a beating. And you won’t likely find out during the first 90-days.
