WEN 2000-Watt Inverter Generator

WEN 2000-Watt Inverter Generator

Does it have a manual gas shut off valve?

Hi there, I don’t see one listed in the owner’s manual but I may have missed it. The manual is available in the description.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

From looking at the pictures, it doesn’t appear to have one. I previously bought a different model that has one (56225i)… https://tools.woot.com/offers/wen-56225i-2250-watt-inverter-generator-4 … It is easy to locate in the pictures, when it has one.

I have the older, 1800 watt version of this, and mine does not have a true gas shut-off. About the only thing you can do is shut the vent on the gas cap and let the vacuum eventually starve the carburetor. On the plus side, the whole generator is light enough and easy enough to handle that you can pick up the whole thing and pour out all the gasoline, like a giant gas can, and run it dry.

I just purchased the next model up from the mother ship. The only difference between the one here and the one I purchased is the 12v outlet on mine.

There is no true fuel shutoff. The vacuum breaker valve on the gas cap is what they would call some type of shutoff.

Like a previous poster indicates, this is very light and easy to tip the fuel back into your fuel can.

They do not ship with oil in them, so fill up the oil before you try to use it!

Most folks recommend getting the magnetic tip dipstick for these.

I have the big brother version of this, the 3800 watt inverter generator. It works fairly well. When we lost power recently I was able to carry on with my day. That said, it won’t start up my air compressor, so I’m not sure if these put out the advertised power. Wen had little answers when I contacted them. That said, for normal emergency use, Wen generators start up fairly easily, and are pretty quiet.

I have two of these. Fantastic! Easy to start. Easy to maintain. Get a quart of 10W 30 and the magnetic oil Dipstick from Amazon. I also keep a spare spark plug on hand. If storing for long periods of time, make sure you run it dry.

Hurricane season is coming! Get one BEFORE you need it.

I’ve got one of these and it’s fantastic and so convenient. I don’t touch my open frame generator anymore unless I have to. I would snap up another if I hadn’t already spent a boatload on Prime Day.:grimacing:

Does anyone know if these can be paralleled together?

Thanks!

They can.

The fuel valve is operated by the rotary on/off/choke control. It’s called ‘fuel c0ck’ in the parts list.

(Woot thinks 'c0ck in this context is a bad word.)

I bought one of these a few years ago (actually cost more than this deal). While I bought it for tailgating, it came in very handy during the Texas freeze earlier this year as we used it for 4 days straight to power out little 1000W space heater, some lights, and our TV. Best thing about to anyone on the fence is that it is small enough to be quiet and fuel efficient (we used about 2 gallons of gas per day). I am buying a second one to link together.

A few questions on the gas run off. I usually just turn off the gas into the carb and let it run until it stalls. There is a small nut on the bottom of the carb with a tube the you can use to completely drain any fuel out if needed. Having stabilizer in the gas probably makes draining it unneeded but I do it anyway.

Use ethanol free gasoline. Particularly if you are going to store it. Mine is 4 years old and still fires up on the first two pulls. When a tropical storm came thru and lost power, this single generator powered our satellite TV, fan, fridge, and freezer. Just buy one.

Yes. It is part of the off/run/choke switch.

I’ve had this generator for almost 3 years. What I do when I am done using it is rotate the switch slowly to off until the engine starts to cut out, then I back it off slightly and let the engine run until it dies. This will allow the engine to run with the fuel petcock shut. Doing this will burn most of the fuel out of the fuel bowl on the carb reducing the chance of your carb getting gummed up during long periods of storage.

Yes, it has a manual fuel shut-off valve. It is integrated into the main shut-off switch with a position for OFF, FUEL OFF (will let the carb run dry to shut it off), and ON. On my 56235i it takes about 5 minutes for the carb to run dry when you turn it to FUEL OFF, and I think it is a great feature.

This is a good price as Wen sells them direct for $431. These inverter generators are ultra quiet and provide clean power that will allow you to run electronics - something I would not recommend with a standard generator.

I will also second the suggestion for getting the magnetic dipstick - it costs about $10-12 on the mothership.

Are you saying you do NOT run this once a month like they recommend? Sorry, but gas last about 1 month and then goes bad creating a goo.

WOOT!, is really taunting me with this one. It’s been here all day, I already own one, but feel compelled to own another one. I live in hurricane alley and the one I own earned it’s money last year.

You could always buy one for me instead. Then you won’t have the shame of an unused one collecting dust around the house.

there’s sarcasm here, I swear.

or maybe not…
