The money that I saved by getting this TV instead of a more expensive one, I have to spend it on getting a sound system. I wish I knew that the sound was really this bad.
I got mine delivered today… attempted to hook up using 2 different hdmi cables and even direct coax into the wall and the entire left half of the TV is dark. Thing is a piece of sh*t!
I must be a lucky one having read the comments prior to this post. I’m a very happy camper with this TV up running and tweaked to my tastes and equipment. The picture is as sharp and clean as I have seen on units way more expensive than this.
The manual is not extreme in detail in assuming that you already know what SPDIF, HDMI, MTS, SOURCE, and other vernacular mean. It’s a manual, not a dictionary or a home study course on (AV 101).
I would assume that the activation number for using the tuner the first time is to thwart persons who break into a tavern and stealing them from using them when they get home. Clancy’s reports it stolen, then when someone else calls in to activate it with that serial number… bang Popo is at the door. In a dream world anyway.
Sometimes I think people just like to crab… yes, myself included, but not on this TV. It’s another GREAT VALUE PURCHASE FROM WOOT!
Recieved mine and the sound is terrible. I’ve adjusted the audio in an attempt to get more base in the speakers. Is anyone else having that problem or do I need to go to best buy or somewhere and get a new set of cords to see if that is the problem?

I don’t think your cables are the cause of weak bass. If you are attempting to get more bass from the TV speakers don’t bother; they are too tiny. If you have the TV connected to an external audio device, I have found that the TV bass, treble, and volume level controls will control the stereo analog audio output(even though the manual says they do not). I have not tried the digital audio output.
This thing is not VESA 200x200.
It is VESA FPMPMI. This is the wall mount you would need:
Well, after waiting for forever for the shipping, it tried to arrive to my work on a SATURDAY… So I had to wait until a Tuesday to pick it up @ a Fedex store. Whew. Now, two weeks in, here’s my review!
To say the sound is terrible is a drastic understatement. The TV sounds like you have headphones plugged in and cranked in another room…
That said, I could care less, because I have always used a home theater system. The problem is that mine has coax in, and since I’m using over air HD, I had to buy spdif toslink to coax adapter. I found one at amazon for $13 and also bought a $2 cord and it works great.
The picture is GREAT. This tv was a great bargain and I’m really happy with it so far.
Here’s a link to the audio adapter I got in case anyone else needs one:
Side note- I made the mistake of quickly clicking the “buy these three items together” and ended up with two toslink cables. It’s ok though, because I plugged in a standard RCA cable from the coax out of the converter to the coax in of my sound system and it works fine.
The screen on mine recently starting going black; audio is still present but no picture. This happens regardless of which input is being used. Turning it off and then back on restores the picture, but after a few minutes the screen goes black again. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
