What was your favorite meal as a kid?
Short answer: T-bone with grandpa and grandma
Extended: My grandpa worked for farmers in addition to his factory job. He would frequently fill the freezer with “cows.” This meant that I got T-bones steaks at a young age, and my grandma taught me to cook them. These were fond memories of the favorite meal!
Chili spaghetti
Bun Bo hue forever
My mom’s chicken parmesan using her “secret” sauce
While cousins were raving about hotdogs and hamburgers, my 7 year old kiddo wanted sushi (we’re not Japanese). Last night in Washington, DC on a trip post graduation, we had …sushi. Still cannot understand why.
My Aunt’s Eggplant Parmigiana!
To die for, at any age!
Sounds like interesting comfort food. Have not had and will need to search for it. Looked it up:
Yes! Try it! Much better than Pho
I am not Greek either but learned to love Moussaka as a slightly older kid in of all places a hospital eatery.

Traditional Moussaka recipe with eggplants (aubergines) and potatoes - My Greek Dish
BĂ©chamel sauce is to me the essential part. Lots of Greek restaurants do not seem to do it as well as that humble place - maybe that is part of the charm of the food of when we were young. A treat if you can find it. Decadently creamy eggy topping, generous ground beef/lamb filling, and deep fried potator underlayer.
Spanish rice was my favourite. I once found a recipe but have since lost the cookbook. I think I remember it well enough to make it again.
This Spanish Rice recipe may be close to what you enjoyed.

Jack In the Box Chicken Supreme, ate them two at a time. Too bad they don’t have them anymore.
Hot dog and Kraft Mac n cheese. Still my favorite …
Child of the 80’s…Chicken ala King. It’s frozen and you reheat it in the plastic in a pot of boiling water. Plate on toasted white bread.
Thought child of the 80s was tuna patty. Or was that the 90s?
My dad’s baked chicken. He cooked it in our industrial microwave with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt. Delicious
I LOVE CHICKEN A LA KING! SWANSONS makes it to this day. The sad thing is when you find it, the person selling it wants like $28.73 per can.
Thanks for bringing back a happy memory!
Here you go. I like it too but did not get it often as a child (we were very poor). You may want to tweak it to taste but I hope this gets you a near unlimited supply !!
