Currently using 5, purchased from Woot. One blower failed when 6 mo old. Mfr replaced under warranty without issue. Great units. Very quiet and efficient.

Bought one here several years ago. No issues. Quiet. Third party filters work fine.

$100 at Costco with an extra set of filters. Been this price for a month now.

I’d go that route rather than buying a refurb. It’s been this price all month.

This will help your routers signal travel farther right?

I have two from this company. They look similar but not the exact version. It’s a good air filter. They have worked well and the filters aren’t super expensive. I also have BlueAir units and the filters are very expensive. Check out Youtube there are some vids that say good things about this brand.

100%. I have the same 2 brands. I run this one in the bedroom and the BlueAir in the larger room where we watch TV.

I have some BlueAir units for the main living space, and this model of Winix in my office and in a second bedroom. One was a new purchase from Costco years ago, and the other was a refurb from here; Both have lasted close to three years at this point, and they do have a few reasonably good quality options for third party replacement filters. For the price, it is a bit of a toss up between this and the Costco option, since filters can be rather pricey, and getting new is nice. But I have seen these perform well for me and others in my family, so I would not be afraid of the refurbished one either.

I’ve bought several of these refurbs over the years. The older bigger ones were better. They’d last four or five years on 24/7. I’ve got two of these smaller ones and the fans started making noise on both of them like a year in. Still using them but have to keep it on low.

Girlfriend and I have bought several of these from Woot. Only time we had a problem is the second one she ordered came with a broken front cover clip and instead of just sending a replacement cover they sent a whole replacement unit.

Also, Winix regularly has sales on the filters if you buy directly from them. Cheaper than Woot’s parent company, so I just stock up when they go on sale and don’t worry about it for a year or so.

I’m running this unit and can report it works very well. After I connected it to my wifi I was able to set a daily routine where the fan speed is changed from low to high for a set amount of time. Works perfectly. The replacement filters are readily available online at a reasonable cost.

We have 5 all refurbs. The original 555 finally has motor noise but has been running basically 24/7 for over 5 years. The othe 4 are c545.

I bought one on Woot in 2020. About 2 years in, the bearing started failing and gives off a high pitched whirling sound. I still use it despite being the noisy whirl. I’ve been tempted to buy one of the new ones at Costco @$100 since it comes with filters. Winix sells the referbs on their site for $69, BTW.

Do they ship for free as well?

I’m a bit over a year into my first Winix 545 refurb purchased via Woot. Unit arrived in pristine condition and has worked great ever since. All in all, I’d say it’s a very good, effective purifier unit for reducing PM2.5 in the air, meaning at least in part that Winix seems to be incorporating and selling good quality HEPA filters for its units.

Ditto on that regarding Winix’s periodic discount sales on their replacement HEPA filters. I just recently bought a new one direct from Winix on sale for about 25% off their regular price.

You really have to be careful when buying replacement HEPA filters from 3rd party vendors… Because while they may sell filters that will fit your model, that doesn’t mean they’re the same quality as the original manufacturer version.

HEPA filters are rated with “HXX” designations based on how high a percentage of PM2.5 they’ll remove from filtered air. The higher the H number the more effective the filter, and ideally you want so-called “True HEPA” filters that are rated like H13, H14 or H15 (and not H10, 11 or 12 filters)

I saw a Chinese seller on Amazon lately offering Winix 545 model filters for sale at substantially lower prices than Winix’s own filters. So I sent them a message via the Amazon messaging system asking them what the H quality rating was for the filters they had on offer. They replied back with a non-answer answer that neither told me the H rating of their filters nor what percentage filtration they were rated at (such as 95%, 99%, 99.5% or ideally what you’re looking for being 99.97% filtration rate.

I bought the original Winix filter on sale. And how do I know they work? Because I have portable PM2.5 monitors at home that measure the levels of PM2.5 in the air in real time. So I can see what happens when I turn on the purifier and even when the air outside is bad, just how low/clean my purifier can get my indoor air.

Fine right out of the box. By day 3 the noise is too loud for sleeping. On the low speed maybe it could be used in a bedroom, but not mine. As it’s now Saturday, I won’t be contacting Winix, other than reading the warranty which clearly states that returns are the purchasers responsibility. Cost of that will be about 1/2 of what it cost here at Woot.

I’ll keep this updated with my experience.
