Char-Broil 36,000 BTU 3-Burner Gas Grill w/ Wheels

Got one just a few weeks ago when on sale at Home Depot for $109 (normally $139)
Easy to assemble - nearly every screw is already in place with Loc*Tight on it - all you do is drop the pieces in pace and tighten. There are 2 wing nuts you hace to twist on, that’s it.

HOWEVER - the “pan” secures to the frame by sliding brackets on the pan into brackets on the frame - and my pan was actually MISSING 2 of the 4 welded brackets - leaving me to beleive quality control here is not great.

The side burner is nice, but it’s not huge - as i wanted it mainly for roasting peppers it’s great.

There is a single igniter for all burners.

Biggest things I dislike:
The grates are pressed metal (as opposed to a “wire rack”)
There is NO storage under this - just a wire rod cross-brace (which the instruction illustration (there are no written instructions - you get pictographs) showed assembling in the wrong holes. LOmfL)

Neighbor has one. It’s good for direct grilling (e.g. burgers), but doesn’t have the heft for slow and low bbq (e.g. brisket).

Not sure exactly what that’s supposed to mean - it has 3 burners, they all have a low setting and you can run a single burner. If you need it cooler than that try just putting it in the sun - it is finished in black so I am sure you will get the lukewarm temps you seem to require.

Are the burners stainless steel?
Are the 3 burners round, or straight lined up in parallel or ?
[/quote]
The burners are SS.
The burners are round (tubular)
The burners are parallel, aligned front-to-rear (so there is a left-center-right cooking area)
I took the heat spreader off the left-most burner and my salt block is over it. So far working great.

Would jump on this for the price.

OK grill for this price. Don’t expect it to have a long life span. I owned the 2 main burner + side burner version of this from Home Depot and while I kept it covered it started rusting badly within 6 months. The stamped steel cover over the burner, which gets red hot during cooking also started rusting badly. The cover is thin and flexes every time I moved it. Despite my best efforts I could never get all the screws to install that hold the side tables to the legs. Several calls and parts to Char Boil they sent me an entire screw kit to try that and it still would not screw in. They were willing to send me a replacement leg part because the spot where the screw goes in must have been the problem but that would entail disassembling just about the entire grill to pull the old part so I just lived with it.

Bottom line, you get what you pay for. It’s inexpensive and really cheaply made. Mine lasted 2 1/2 years before I gave up and bought a Weber. I think the cover of the Weber is made of more steel than the entire cook box of the Char Broil.

Nice timing - got one. Our last grill just became inoperable, and I’ve been using the small Weber charcoal normally used for light tailgating tasks.

Anybody with this grill replace the grates with more robust replacements? Cast iron maybe?

This is a great deal for a well made grill that will last if you take care of it. I recently paid $150 from Amazon for mine, so this sort of didn’t make me smile to see it for almost 50% less… But I use it very often. The side burner is great for boiling corn on the cob, roasting veggies, etc. I also use it with my chimney starter to get charcoal going faster for my Weber smoker. Get a cover for $25, use it, enjoy it.

Hello –

Does anyone know if this is convertible to natural gas?

Steve

I noticed some complaints on the mother ship’s site about the tank. Are there brackets on the grill for the tank, or does it just sit on the ground?

Seems like a great deal. Now why do i need 2 grills…

This is an awesome deal. Cheapest I saw this for locally was 189. Even if it only lasted two seasons it would totally be worth it.

Pass and points please.

Love the free shipping. What a good deal! Thanks woot! and happy birthday!

Looks like a great deal!

Pretty decent post for a Squarryl…

Ugh I missed the deal!!!

So glad I jumped on this early - I debated waiting until later in the afternoon. [Already] in for one.

Thanks, Woot for having yet another example of how you’re spying on me. I’ve been grill shopping for at least a month now. Everything I’ve found is either very expensive and huge or quite expensive and this sized. This is the first deal I’ve seen where the grill is [extremely] reasonably priced.

My existing grill is falling apart so I pounced on this deal when I saw it.
To my pleasant surprise, the grill was sitting in my driveway the very next day!
Easy to assemble. Looks great.
Grill test this weekend…

Mine came today! Pretty fast for 67lbs of grill! Box looks to be in good shape, can’t unpack it for a couple of days so I have to wait…I hate waiting.

I’ll write back to report.

Received my grill Monday, quickest Woot shipment yet! Put it together last night, and hope to test it out soon. Was surprised at the large cooking surface, thought it would be smaller, but that’s a good thing. Went together pretty quick. I am pulling the wheels off my old grill to replace the cheap plastic ones that look like they may fail after a couple days of rolling over the lawn.
