the no text rule is getting to be a bit too common in my opinion… :-/

I also am getting bummed by the no text rule. There should be a limit (IE- maybe 26 characters), but it’s hard to do anything without the occasional alphanumeric accent mark.
Strictly posting for personal feedback as I won’t be submitting this one due to the text limitation. It was just one of those designs I had to get out of my head and onto the screen (if that makes sense).
I’ll be enjoying the Simpsons ride at Universal all tomorrow anyhow so no chance of an on time submission this week.
Oh, and thanks a bunch for the great shirt template Cho.

Makes perfect sense. I likes! It definitely makes me squirm, though the middle of the word is a little scrunched together and hard to make out.

The slogan derby was enough text for 80 derbies.
I’d love for woot to pull out a consistent text policy, such as allowing text on items (xs on beer bottles, lets say) without allowing slogany nonsense (a “no sentence” rule?) but as it stands, I’d rather have no text at all than gray text areas. To be fully honest, I find it odd that better artists than I am feel so limited by no text.

Well, when I want to make a shirt for the bee squadron A48, I’d like a little text.

I hear you. This ought to be ok as a regular rule on shirt.woot, along with X’s for eyes, etc. I think a good rule of thumb, even for “no text” derbies, would be (for example): no more than 10% of your design can consist of text. That way you couldn’t design a “slogan” shirt or anything with text as the main focus of the shirt. Of course it would be subjective and up to the rejectionator, so that would be no different.

kyle, you should read posts more carefully in the future. Raikus is well aware of the text limitation.
