If you have a look at the specs page, in the “general” section for each of the camera types it seems to indicate they would require their own power source.
These analog/HD cameras use 75 ohm bnc coax cables with a power lead and connectors. They have one or two wall wart power supplies with a splitter that can power 4 cameras that plug into the power plug built into the coax that plugs into the camera on the other end outside. You don’t need to plug in outside as it’s all combined into the cable you run. That’s why POE cameras are better. They get power from the much smaller network cables and special POE network switches that provide power over the network cable and carry the video signal so the cables are small and easy to run and cameras work great. I have a setup similar to this setup and already have the cables run and everything is cheaper than a POE setup so you have to decide which is affordable and best for you. For someone wanting a ready to go HD setup this is a great option but it’s worth shopping around.
This is a nightmare. Trying to setup users I found that the User Type field is in what I can only guess is Chinese.
I can’t find anywhere to try and get an updated firmware to fix the issue.
Going to en-secure.com looks like it has nothing to do with the security system.
I can’t get the cameras to actually show anything on my phone.
If the woot sale had said this was a defunct company, I wouldn’t have purchased the system. If I can’t find some kind of support, I will have no choice but to return it.
I bought it and got it installed with not too much of a problem. Had to adjust a few things on my router to let it access a few ports but that wasn’t too bad. Everything in the system does seem to be originally written in Chinese and translated to English so it is a bit clunky to navigate but I setup multiple users without a problem.
(Installation instruction sheet also reads from right to left; not left to right)
I’ve had this whole thing hooked up for just over a week now and here are a few issues I’ve had so far:
1: One camera was DOA and a completely different brand than the rest of the bunch. Two others had trapped humidity in them which created double vision. That seems to have cleared up for now…
2: The cameras are all just short of telephoto regardless of that 60degree claim. (I can only assume that CC cameras use a different scale than traditional photography.) Everything is zoomed in too far making the cameras nearly useless for the what I needed. I’ve had to order wide angle cameras on Amazon to replace a few of these.
3: The system completely locked up in the middle of the first night after installation. I had to hard reset it to get it to reboot. It’s happened several times since then so it’s not reliable compared to my old Zmodo system (not HD).
4: The internal fans are already unbearably loud which is a sure sign of failure.
In hindsight I’m not sure I would have bought this even at the woot price point.
*Edit: 4 days after this post the unit will not stay running for more than an hour at a time. It is now completely useless. Should have been named “unsecure.”
