Keto or diabetic recipes

So tonight I made a Keto chocolate cake with keto powdered sugar frosting. All in all it didn’t turn out to badly. I’m trying to work around being an insulin diabetic but still able to have some sweet desserts. Is anyone familiar with either Keto or diabetic recipes? I’d be so grateful for any suggestions or websites or recipes. I just want to be as healthy as I can be even though the odds are stacked against me health wise. My new normal is trying to find healthy recipes for diabetes and liver disease. Any suggestions would be great. Sorry for putting my life story in here, but we are a community so I’m hopeful. Thanks in advance

Hi there. I don’t have any ideas bc I rarely cook but you might change your title to something more direct:

More than just temporary recipes I try to follow a low carb lifestyle as a T2 diabetic. It’s easier on my body and I feel better doing so. But kicking carbs is tough, at first it feels pretty rotten, but fortunately that doesn’t last

I know next to nothing about liver disease unfortunately.

Do you have any dietary restrictions due to your liver problems?

Thank you @ThunderThighs ! You are much more creative and savvy at creative topic titles than myself!!

Hi @therealjrn! So as far as liver dietary restrictions it’s low sodium and lean protein diet I need to stick to.

As far as diabetic restrictions I’m still learning. I know the basics but recently I became a fully insulin dependent diabetic. I only have 1/2 my pancreas and was able to get by with diet, oral medication and insulin once in awhile. My doctors knew at some point my pancreas would completely stop producing insulin and that time has come. I’m on 2 different insulin’s now and am having trouble managing it all. So now that I no longer have a choice I need to learn how to cook foods and snacks that work for my diabetes.

I’m trying to figure out a happy medium food wise being an brittle diabetic at the moment and having liver failure.

How are you doing with your type 2 diabetes? Have you found any cookbooks or websites that are better than others?

Any info would he greatly appreciated.

I wish! Lol

Well, the thing with low carb is that it can be high in fat, because fat satiates far longer than carbs do.

I think highly of your dietary approach though. My most recent lab work came back with an A1C of 5 which isn’t even pre-diabetic.

Probably read the Atkins book and I would suggest joining a book of faces group called reversing diabetes but it’s a private group and you have to answer some questions to join.

I don’t have any allergies to sweeteners so I use those to the exclusion of sugar. But I also eat KitKats or whatever, sparingly.

No potatoes bread rice etc as well for me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to chat about this. I’m definitely going to look into becoming a member of the FB group! I wish you all the best and eat a KitKat for me next time too!! They are amazing lol.

My recent A1c was a 9 and my C-peptide was 0.38 ng/mL. Those numbers were a little alarming when I first received them from my endocrinologist.
