Oooh how easy is this to do???

Purchased to replace 5 year old Vertu to decrease counter footprint. Working fine. No brainer at this price! I have a $2,000 Phillips machine that makes better coffee, but is much more user intense. I use the Nespresso more!

There’s basically two ways, both easily found on the mothership and online auction sites. The first is aluminum foil stickys which you put on the used Nespresso pod.

I have the second option: an aftermarket pod made out of aluminum billet material… It has a zebra code etched in the metal for the machine to read. The thing is indestructible, and I love it.

It’s slightly finnicky: you have to get the hang of how much to fill/pack the pod in order for it to work properly – but once you do, it’s fantastic. If you grind your own coffee, take note of how finely ground the Nespresso pod coffee is, and try to replicate that.

Did it come in a sealed box? Or was it refurbished?

I have both the vertuo line and original line machines and I don’t like the crema the vetuo makes. It’s a foam that is great when just made but in a minute looks like soap scum.

It arrived already! Came in OG packaging but was clearly repackaged/taped up. Ran a decaf pod through it to test and everything seems to be working OK. Product did need a good dusting and cleaning but didn’t look used or abused or dirty from prior coffee use, per say.

How’s your output temperature? Mine arrived yesterday and I only got to try it out this morning, and while the documentation out there states it should be brewing at 78C ±5C, the hottest I can seem to get is about 68C, and that was when I ran a run with a used pot to heat up the lines/cup and put hot water in the tank as suggested by folks on the interwebs and then brew a cup. I’m wondering if the unit I got was returned to be “refurbished” because it wasn’t getting hot enough…

Edit: So yea, it’s been a few days and no matter what I do, I cannot get this thing to put out coffee anywhere close to the brewing temp that it should be at short of filling the reservoir with nearly-boiling water. Contacted customer support and we’ll see what they have to say…

Haven’t measured the temp but it was too hot to drink quickly right after it brewed. I’ll measure my next cup and report back - will be a few days as we brew carafes via a different machine when we both work from home.

If it’s too hot to drink quickly right away, it sounds like you got a good one ;). Unfortunately, mine is defiantly a dud and is being dropped off at UPS tomorrow because they don’t have anymore to swap it out with. In the nearly 17 years that I’ve been shopping woot, this will only be the 2nd thing that was defective, so I think my overall track record is good ;p
