If this doesn’t sell out, the current derby is a joke.
If this does sell out, the current derby should see a rather large omission from the fog.
IMO…I’m gonna have to start by saying outright that the actual roots should look more “realistic”. This is not me saying that they look bad right now. The current style makes the root system seem alright, but in the end it feels too redundant.
that plant appears to be an angiosperm, which have taproot systems and not fibrous root systems. if i wore this shirt everyone would totally be on my case about that, mirite?

i like this shirt because even though the flower is not very impressive…its root system is. too many people in this world are the opposite…too much show and not enough root

I could not have less interest in this shirt. In most cases of shirt.woots that I would not personally wear, I would still support someone else in wearing it. Not the case here. I don’t see the appeal.
Man, I am getting so tired of the abstract, textless, obscure T-shirt designs.
Emphasis on textless. We here in the USA speak English. It’s safe to actually put words on shirts, you know? Hell, there’s not a single shirt in my closet that doesn’t have some words on it. That’s why I bought Plan B and that Sliced Bread one, they were total play-on-word displays.
Ditch these damn abstract designs and get something with SOMETHING TO SAY!

“What is a weed?” is in the eyes of the beholder. Skip those lawn mowers and go green. Love it! Good color for St. Paddy’s.
“No words” is good. Forces people to THINK for themselves.
People reading a shirt aren’t going to sit there and think. Either it’s a funny, witty, or symbolic shirt, or it’s not. Things like “The television will not be revolutionized” are all things: symbolic, witty, and funny. Things like a freakin’ flower, bubbly plagiarized shapes from the Bahamas logo, etc etc etc, just make you look either weird, or like a total hippie.
Words, people. Words make people laugh, words make people think, words make a shirt interesting. Silly shapes and distorted figures do not.
p.s.: I absolutely detest Woot’s justification of the most recent derby’s “No text” rule as “let’s throw that crutch away and walk upright”. I, as a buyer and not a designer, won’t buy anything without text, and that means that, as I have with the past entire week or so of crappy submissions, won’t be even considering buying one of those. Hell, this entire week of shirts has been a big parade of “MEH”. Junk I’d never want to wear. What the hell gives? Where are the cool submissions?
Now I have a shirt for Earth Day!
What this shirt needs is a red dot somewhere on the lower portion of that root system with an arrrow and the words “you are here” …then I’d buy that shirt!

I agree. With the exception of the Godzilla shirt (which sold out in roughly an hour…), the last week’s selections haven’t impressed me in the least.
