Table in a Bag Folding Polywood Adirondack Chairs

Are these chairs Polywood brand chairs? The pictures appears to show a Polywood White Classic Folding Adirondack Chair and a Polywood Brown Long Island Adirondack Chair. Some reviewers on the one store to rule them all have stated the chairs with the curved backs (South Beach and Seashell models) are more comfortable. Anyone have any comments about this or Polywood products in general? At least the free item people and the marketing types don’t seem to be trolling around on woot! yet.

The brand is “Table in a Bag”.

I will definitely not be getting a quality post for this post.

First the Facts: These are table in a bag (TIAB) brand chairs presumably made using polywood lumber. Polywood is a company that makes “lumber” out of recycled HDPE and also furniture lines using the polywood. The TIAB website descriptions for these chairs state: “Natural Wood Painted White color Folding Adirondack Chair.” Perhaps not confusing if you think like a marketing pro. The white chair is available at “the one store to rule them all” for $102.66 with free shipping (two days for prime members). The white chair has a 3.3 star average from 16 reviewers with some strongly worded negative reviews.

Then the Observations and Conclusions: The negative reviews frequently complain of packages with defective “lumber” or “lumber” that failed quickly. The use of polywood brand “HDPE lumber” would seem to be questionable in these chairs. Given Amazon’s problems with an epidemic of 5 star reviews from individuals getting a discount or free product in return for an “honest” review and marketer reviews, 3.3 stars is a horrendous overall result. (3.5 stars is the new 2 stars.) Even if you want to gamble on these chairs, they are available cheaper on Amazon with the benefits of free shipping and the easy prime return policies. “These are not the chairs you are looking for.”

Very good analysis.

Maybe it is a different chair? The one on the Ammy site does not say HDPE and those specs are 28 x 28 x 38 whereas this one is 28 x 28 x40.

You are right. I started to edit my earlier comment but got distracted. The Table in a Bag Chair on Amazon looks identical to the one offered here on woot and also to the pollywood white classic Adirondack chair. However, the amazon listing says it is made of cypress and weighs 18.4 pounds. The listing title is: Table in a Bag CWADIRF Folding White Wood Adirondack Chair. I assume the CWADIRF stands for Cypress (or Chinese)Wood Adirondack Folding. The only polywood Table in a Bag Adirondack Chair on Amazon is the brown one. This chair weighs 32 pounds, is made in China and is listed as model CPADIR.

Therefore, the negative reviews on Amazon are for versions of these chairs made of cypress and not HDPE and are not entirely useful in evaluating these chairs. (They do show the company is willing to produce a poorly received product.)There are no reviews on Amazon of the brown TIAB chair made of HDPE. It is still true the TIAB chairs are made in China and Polywood brand chairs are made in the USA. I do not know if the TIAB chairs are made using trademarked Polywood brand lumber or somewhat similar product made similar to Polywood. I am going to wait and see if woot! has deals on the Polywood chairs in the future.
