I got a pair of these on a previous sale. I will say that the metal is quality construction. However, the funnels are a concern. My biggest issue is that they gather dirt when the can is not in use. So every time you go to use it, you have to clean the funnel first to prevent putting dirt into your gas tank. “Just cover them when not in use” you may say. Well, I don’t have to do that with any of my other gas cans, so that makes these less convenient.
I bought 3 of these on a previous WOOT sale…overall these are great cans…I paid $27.99 each for mine cans… The steel is heavy duty buy still will dent if your rough with them. The funnel is good to have…with my other cans I find myself always looking for a funnel. You do have to remove the funnel when you fill them…at first the funnel was a little hard to remove…and as mentioned before the funnel will collect dust…but this is the same as any funnel. Great cans, glad I bought them. Best of all these do not leak…
I found the trick with the funnel is you have to make sure it is pushed all the way down so the bottom of the funnel is in contact with the gas can. If not the gas will leak from there when you pour it. If you can do that it works great for me.

Stupid safety funnel is a pain in the butt. Leaks everywhere.

I absolutely LOVE all the newer “EPA regulated” gas cans!!!
As a yoot, I rarely spilled a DROP of gas. Now - thanks to enhanced Government intervention and the mandating of all sorts of stupid bullshit vapor retention garbage (yet NO STANDARDS on the QUALITY OR DURABILITY of said items) I have 3 gas cans with broken apparatus on their spouts that SPILL GAS EVERYWHERE every time I use them.
Puffy is right. This is a perfectly serviceable gas can made nearly unusable by government mandated design. Suggest prowling yard sales for pre-vapor control mandated cans. Or, you can go to youtube and see how to modify these.
I wholeheartedly agree! I never spilled a drop with the old cans. Now every time I fill my compact utility tractor fuel splatters all over as the can gasps for air. Then I get to clean the hood of the tractor and air dry the towel, after which I need to be sure that I don’t leave the towel where it can combust spontaneously. This is one EPA regulation that has the opposite effect of that intended. Next time I’m in Canada I will buy the old style ‘can’, except plastic so it has a cap-able vent.
I have had one of these gas cans for about 7 years now. Best gas can I have ever owned. I have never had any of the leaking problems as some of the others have stated.
Do I need this? What are typical uses for a gas can? My folks never had one growing up, so I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious.
Also, I own a diesel sedan. Is it safe or even legal to carry around a can full of diesel, or would I instead carry around the empty can and use it if necessary?
