Breville YouBrew Coffee Maker

I’m having difficulty getting the squaretrade button to work, despite trying different PCs, browsers, updating Flash, etc. When I mouseover the box it does highlight, but it doesn’t exhibit any linky-clicky behavior.

Either I am doing a stupid or something’s amiss. Halp?

I’ve owned this coffee maker for about a year now and I absolutely love it. First off, people complaining about it making a cup of coffee too strong are just not serious coffee drinkers; my mother has one as well and she actually feels the need to stop the grinding cycle half way and let it add additional grounds to the filter; I feel like the settings on it are adequate for my tastes and most any normal coffee drinker. Sure, the thing is loud, but it’s grinding coffee- what do you expect?! It’s only on for a minute or so and then it’s on to brewing delicious coffee, the best I’ve had from any machine. I’ve never felt a need to adjust the grinder because the coffee it makes is delicious, and this coffee maker is also a breeze to clean. There are little notes on it that specifically tell you what needs to be routinely cleaned, and as long as you follow that, it works flawlessly. One thing that really differentiates the design of this coffee maker, with its internal grinder, is the fact that it has a rotating stainless steel plate that closes off the grinding port when actual brewing begins so that no steam can enter the grinding area and gum the thing up- FINALLY somebody was thinking. So, like I said, the way this is designed makes it super easy to clean. All you have to do is empty the filter basket, rinse the carafe, wipe off the stainless steel plate (there’s a bit of coffee gunk stuck there), fill it with water (you can select how many cups you want if you like, and just always keep the tank full), and go (this takes about 2 minutes at most, in total). Every 2-3 weeks I take off the bean hopper and use the included brush (conveniently located with a storage spot underneath the bean hopper) to clean out the grinder chute; again, this is not something you need to do with any frequency. I always use mine to brew a carafe and don’t have too much experience with the single cup feature, but when I have used it, the coffee was pretty good albeit not quite as hot as it should be. If you use whole bean coffee, appreciate the benefits of a fresh grind, and want a solid coffee maker that’s easy to clean and makes DELICIOUS coffee, look no further. I paid around 270 dollars for mine when they were at that range and still don’t regret it.

Well you all confused me! Thank you!! GRRR… I wanted a grinder coffee maker for the motorhome, so I was waiting to find one with the stainless pot, so it wouldn’t break, but I don’t like coffee so strong it puts hair on my chest (I’m trying to avoid that) I like a regular strength coffee and now I’m worried this will end up beside the other things I just had to have

Point two certainly could be a concern but it also important to know it is not always an item that got used, broke, and then repaired. If a customer returns something to the store because they don’ like it, (gift they don’t want or need) it can no longer be sold as new. Some get sold as used in the same store, some get sent back to the factory where they are checked out, boxed, and then sold as ‘refurbished’. It still becomes a roll of the dice regardless if new or refurbished. The real determination is, how much is the discount and does that make it worth it?
Agree 100%. I see the new coffeemaker on amazon is selling for about $200, but that comes with the warranty + extended warranty that i get from Amex. Plus the lack of having to wonder how long the machine was with a previous owner. I m gonna say unless this was selling for say sub-$70 or something, it isnt enough of a price drop to warrant the 2nd hand (or as they call in marketing speak, “pre-owned”) nature of the product!

Reading the dimensions, this Coffee Maker seems huge. Is that true to experience, that it’s bulky and eats up space?

You make a great point, but wouldn’t the coffee chute be required in order to operate the machine?

They are NOT listed as “included accessories” nor “in the box” in the Woot specs, only as “accessories” (as of 7:30 AM PST). In contrast, on the Breville site, under specs, they are SPECIFICALLY “included”. Also at Breville, under just “accessories”, those pieces carry an additional price, putting a premium on that word “included”. I, for one, want to know why there is this discrepancy, i.e. why not “in the box”. Long-time wooters would agree - check such details and leave nothing to chance!

That said, Woot has always been fabulous at making things right, either altering the listing to be clearer, shipping extra parts, or cancelling / refunding. Someone usually seems to read these discussions and notice things (a growing job, given the # of sub-sites). This isn’t like some of those copy-cat one-per-day sites where they make half their profit from intentionally hiding such details of not-included items (e.g. Daily Checkout). I have confidence in Woot, just making details clear.

(Update: I saw that the filter is described as included in the features description, but there is a history here of such description pages being copy-pasted from manufacturers’ sites without being representative (VERY infrequent, but has happened). Again, just checking details and discrepancies.)

Oh my God, what is wrong with me? I want this thing and I have a Nespresso CitiZ with milk, a brand new drip machine I bought because my Mom-in-law is coming and she won’t drink “real” coffee, several French presses an electric moka pot and 2 - yes that’s two BRAND NEW and free Nespresso machines I got for from Amazon Vine to test (I am going to do a 3 way test) and yet, I want this…I’m sick, I’m an addict…must look away.
Hey! How do you like your Nespresso with the frother? Thanks!

I’ve got the Pixie (smaller than citiz but same idea) and love it. The newer frothers are great since they don’t have the burn problem the first gen did. You could only do about one froth before having to clean the bottom of burnt on milk.

Otherwise can’t express the virtues of nespresso enough. The customer service is top notch. Had a water leak, called them up and they sent me a replacement while the were working on mine.

Well, something must have changed because I went back and tried again after the sale finished and that time it worked exactly as expected. So, warranty in hand, I’m good to go for 3 years.

I’d like to think there was something fixed and I wasn’t doing a stupid but no way to tell otherwise.

I had the same problem. I wrote to customer service and they sent me back the squaretrade link; I guess one can purchase it separately?

On another note: I realised just AS I clicked “buy” that I had mistyped the zipcode … but by then it was too late and the order went through with the wrong address. Since there’s no phone # I could call, I emailed Woot immediately (within 5 mins of placing the order) and received an email reply 6hrs later that there was nothing they could do to change it as it had already gone to shipping (of course, I still don’t have a tracking number so it hasn’t actually shipped yet… but there’s no way to make the change to the zip (one mistyped digit :frowning: ). And yes, I realise that limited customer service is how they keep the prices down, but surely this kind of thing must happen enough for them to have a system in place to handle it? I have since corrected the address in my account, but the order has the wrong one.

I’m now in a panic that it’s going to get lost or returned to sender. Will be watching tracking like a hawk (does anybody know which provider services their continental US packages?). So frustrating - I just hope that somehow this thing gets to me since it’s my husband’s Christmas gift! Bottom line: I want my coffeepot. Delivered to me, not the Post Office. Eek…

@divamum: Sorry for the problem with the zip code. To speed up delivery, we release orders to be processed every couple hours. Once it’s released, we can’t pull it back for changes.

Mine went out by UPS; I thought they and most other shippers check ZIP against address and often correct ZIP. Have you followed the tracking yet?

Just got mine today. It beeped 20 times and displayed error code 002. Manual says to call support. Did so and they are sending another unit. Also, it smells of ground coffee and the display was scratched up.

I received my YouBrew yesterday - immediately brewed several cups - then a pot. VERY pleased with the result- great coffee. I don;t like Scalding hot burn your crotch McCoffee - and I think the temp is perfect.

I did use a 35% discount code and bought the 3 year square trade warranty for this - because- with the grinder - and all that’s involved i think it was worth the 11.00

My wife did say - wow, that’s big. I get that sometimes.

Can you please post the 35% discount code for the square trade warranty. Thanks!

Got mine today but it kept insisting to lock the hopper despite it being very securely locked thus no coffee was had. But it’s a beautiful machine, with those slow opening pneumatic style doors for water and the coffee. Bright white LCD screen and a ton more features.

Breville Customer Service was awesome though, should be sending a replacement.

Yay for Breville. You keep us posted!

Got mine today, plugged it in and viola…

“ERROR CODE 002”.

It’s Saturday, customer service doesn’t open till Monday. I gave away the old coffee maker!

I’m suffering from withdrawal already.

Hope they replace the unit

I finally hooked mine up (holding off until things calmed down) - went to make our first pot of 8 cups with mid strength. It ground up almost the entire hopper of beans!!! It only stopped when the basket got too full to hold any more grounds.

Can we say STRONG?!?!?!?!?!?

And now it wants me to descale too.

This is not sounding promising :frowning:

Well, Breville customer service said that the grinder ran for the appropriate amount of time, and that it’s supposed to use a half pound of beans.

(32 secs of grinding for 4 cups of 7 bar; 46 secs for 8 cups of 4 bar)

Dear Lord that’s a lot of beans!!! Our 2 lb bag currently lasts us about 14 or so pots. Now I’m told it would be 4?!?!
