Clif Climber Red - 4 Pack

I’m wondering if the winemaker, Sarah Gott is related to Joel Gott. I love his Zin. This is my first wine purchase on woot. I’m excited!

Tell me about the Prisoner. Do they have a No 6?

Sarah is Joel’s wife. Definitely a big part of Joel Gott wines.

Tell her it’s a nice stack of pretty boxen in the dining room, and she can decorate them if she likes, OR they go in her shoe closet.

No rats on the mid-week offering

All the favorable comments piqued my interest but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit to 4 bottles. I picked up the 2005 Clif Climber Red tonight to try. Its composition is:

7% Merlot
9% Syrah
42% Zinfandel
31% Cabernet
11% Petite Sirah

While I liked it (I’m a fan of Zins) my fiance only thought it was so-so. I know it’s a completely different blend than the current offering but I didn’t like it enough to commit to 4 bottles. I can pick up another bottle at the store if so inclined and besides, buying 4 at a time w/ shipping only saves $7 off the store price.

I BBQ all summer… everyone says this is delicious with ribs. In for deuce

Do these pair well with Clif Bloks, or Clif Bars? or any of their other products?

Are the different varietal components co-fermented or separately fermented?

I’m in for my first wine woot! The blend sounds intriguing and at the price, why not?

I’m in. Sarah is a great winemaker. Her wines are always complete from the beginning to the finish.

My thoughts exactly!

I lied… P/N I got was the Rasmussen which always ships in styrofoam… when are y’all going to start shipping in summer packaging
[/quote]

I just got my Rasmussen PN from the last Woot-off today, and it was packed in cardboard separators.

In for one of the Clif red - need something to drink at summer BBQs. Fruit if by day, dry if by night.

Listen my children and spend your loot
For the hearty red from wine-dot-woot
On the tenth of June, in two-ought-ten
Hardly a Wooter remembers when
Such a Wooty fruit did fill their snoot

Zin and Syrah, Zin and Syrah
go together like a bass and guitar

The 2004, 2005 and 2006 make for a very fun vertical tasting. Mostly because the percentages are on the bottles which helps noobies like me (pretend to) identify varietals.

I think my favorite was 2004.

This looks like some tasty stuff, but I live in Texas where the thermometer has already topped the century mark several times this year. Before I pull the trigger, can somebody (perhaps from the winery) reassure me that it will be in some kind of insulated packaging and not likely to be ruined by the heat during shipping? Thanks.

I’ve got a very high threshold for the next couple months, but you’ve almost tipped me over the line, Scott. I’ll go in for this when it returns in a woot-off after I move and have more space.

There were some earlier posts about this, but if you want to be sure, why not email Woot?

Oh my gosh I have the same problem! I have a family reunion this weekend, so I’ve been able to “blame” it on all the wine I’ve been ordering, but now what am I going to do? LOL

For all of us inquiring about whether our wine would make it home safely in the 90 degree temperatures. I emailed the woot gods and this is what they sent me.

A three year old reference doesn’t tell us much other than three years ago they started sometime late June.
