Yes, there was a recall. Which is probably why these are factory reconditioned and listed for about half price compared to other sites.

From Dyson’s site:

Of a million Dyson heaters sold around the world, a small number are known to have short-circuited, leading to burned and melted internal parts. There have been no instances of injury or property damage, but safety is our first priority.

That’s why we’re recalling all machines and implementing an engineering fix in each one. The fix is free (including shipping and handling), and we’ve made it as easy as possible for you…

[MOD: all these units have been remanufactured according to the CPSC regulations.]

These were recalled, does anyone know if they are back from the factory with recall work done?

[MOD: yes, see my post below]

I bought one from Woot last year. Yes, it was one of those recalled. It was easy enough to determine that it was recalled, and Dyson has been eager to accept it. But I don’t have a printer attached to the computer that I checked it out with and don’t have a way to print out the paperwork to send it back.

Being technologically challenged kinda SUCKS sometimes!!

Does anyone have advice?

You could try “CutePDF Writer”
which is free and is software that installs and gives you the option to print to a pdf file. You then could send them the file as an attachment in an email. Google CutePDF Writer.

I assume also you are trying to print your woot invoice to show your purchase date and what not for Dyson.

We checked with Dyson prior to this sale. These units have been remanufactured according to the CPSC regulations.

contact Dyson to see if they can mail you a label.

I purchased one off Woot a year ago. I absolutely love it! Both for cooling and heating. I just think it works great for both purposes, and looks good too.

I purchased a “factory reconditioned” dyson fan (taller floor model) from woot a few weeks ago. I should have heeded the warnings in the forum about the condition they actually arrive in. The one I received looked like it had been kicked up & down the street a few times. The remote no longer works and the spinning apparatus makes it look like it’s trying to do the robot dance.

teknophil1ac, Sir, that made my decision easy.
I am OUT…

bought one on woot a while back. it was part of the recall.
Sending it back and getting a reconditioned one was painless and easy. We’ve had it back for a while, no issues.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to resist rolling the dice on this as well.

Yes,
Download a software called, “HPePrint” from your phone or your computer. This is a FREE app. You do NOT need a printer for this to work because you are going to actually print your paper work at UPS or FedEx.
When you have completed the download, it will automatically search for a printer which you do not have, so it will offer you other locations that you may print items that for a fee. It is the same price per page, a dollar per page at UPS for example, you would pay for faxing.
You’ll get their locations, maps, numbers, etc., so you will know before you go how much it will cost you. Then you have to sign in to your email account so the app can access what you want to print.
I’m not a very technical person but I figured it out and it was very, very easy. I’ve just tried to give you the basic instructions. This worked for me when my printer broke and I was desperate to print something and it only cost me six dollars to print six pages. Good luck!
