Check out this review over at TrustedReviews.com and great reviews (4.7 out of 5.0) over at The O

Man!! I paid $180 for this here on woot! just a couple months ago!!! WTH?

I purchased one the last sale and it did have some scuffs, definitely a refurb.

The one I purchased during the last sale also had scuffs. Not a big deal - it still looks great in a room and works like a dream.

Really wished it could be angled. Best to place on a table, unless you just want cool/warm feet.

Does this fan when in heat mode time out or will it run forever at the setpoint? And if it times out whats the longest the timer can be set for?

It will stay on until you shut it off. I bought one at this price before on Woot and it was a lifesaver this winter when we were having terrible problems with our upstairs heating. Kept the upstairs warm enough that we were able to get rid of the ice on the walls and windows.

Love it!

Im not sure what angle you mean, but it can be tilted back and “aimed” higher. Found that out by accident…

Is there really any difference between the effectiveness of this and any old 1500W space heater, particularly for large rooms? My cabin costs a fortune in propane to keep warm during the winter, I always run out and the terrain is such that if there’s any snow on the ground it’s difficult for the propane guy to get me a refill.

Before I drop thousands on a wood stove, I’m looking to exhaust all options for reliable, powerful supplemental heat. I’ve tried some cheap space heaters, but they only seem to help in bedrooms - not large open areas.

Have these units been addressed by the recall for catching fire back in 2014 or would you have to have that done with dyson under the 6 months warranty that is being provided with the unit?

[MOD: Yes]

I would like to know as well.

Yes, as part of the factory reconditioning, any problems are addressed.

Probably got scuffed when it caught fire in 2004 and they tossed it out the window.

I bought this last time it was on woot. I love this fan, it does a great job of heating, the only issue is it is LOUD. So LOUD that we can not use this in our bedroom, So I use it in my Man Cave and in my Garage. Guess in reality it’s not a bad deal for me since I get to keep it in my MAN CAVE.

Too damn funny !!! lmao

now this offer says Factory Reconditioned, last month it was explained by someone on here I believe that Refurbished meant it was returned and repaired, but Factory Reconditioned meant it WAS a Refurb that was returned and repaired, thus now called Factory Reconditioned.
–so what are they going to call the repaired Factory Reconditioned ones which I am sure will show up here in the next few months. (Re-re-refurbs or Tri-Furbs is catchy).
Either way this machine is way too noisy no matter what you call it

Here’s our official descriptions:

A “factory reconditioned” item was returned, inspected, and restored to fully working condition by the original manufacturer or a certified partner. And the original manufacturer stands behind it with a warranty. It’s as close to new as you can get without technically being “new”.

“Refurbished” covers everything from buyers’ remorse returns and products whose defects have been repaired by the pros to damaged packaging and discontinued items. If you can accept their checkered past, refurbs have a lot of love to give.

It doesn’t have a timer it is controlled by temperature. So if its 70 degrees in your home and you set it to 75 most likely it will stay on heat mode until it satisfies the area to 75 degrees. I rarely use mine for heat so I keep it down on 30 degrees so it will stay on just fan.
