Makes great coffee - had mine since Nespresso introduced the Vertuo line… makes good espresso as well. I value the size and not having to deal with coffee filters and ground coffee… i like the convenience…
This machine doesn’t make espresso. Espresso implies pushing hot water at high pressure through tightly packed coffee.
The OriginalLine Nespresso machines do that. The new VertuoLine machines use some kind of centrifugal force instead and produce mediocre coffee at best.
Don’t take my word for it, look up reviews that compared the two systems.
Which reviews are you referring to? All the reviews I found are very positive. On a personal note, I sampled the coffee from one of these, and found it to be the best coffee I ever had. The frother really makes a difference. However, it was not an espresso, so I cannot speak for that.
$59 on MEH.com!
(Meh is what woot used to be when it was really awesome)
and what’s the difference between “refurbished” and "factory reconditioned? You can google it yourself, but the answer is probably nothing.
Or check this thread: https://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=108834
[Mod: Ours includes a frothier which is a $99 value!]
Yeah, but the mods will tell you the Woot version includes some useless stuff to make frothy milk which is a $99 value. Or worth nothing, depending who you ask.
There is a higher degree of risk attached to a refurbished product, as it has only been made to look better cosmetically. This means that if there was an issue that spurred the return of the product, it may not have been addressed. Reconditioned means it was tested, and that all bugs and kinks that were found were worked out before it was made available again.
This is a pretty good deal. Picked this up at Best Buy for $89 with 30 rebate when vertuoline FIRST came out, with the milk frother. They have since skyrocketed to $160-180 with the frother.
Yes, it’s not a pressure based espresso system. But it makes decent espresso (2 sizes) and 2 different size coffee sizes. Coffee aficionados may say it’s not up par. I will refrain from calling them snobs if they refrain from calling me unrefined.
Is the frother useless? Only if you like straight espresso. With the frother, a larger variety of drinks from lattes to breves to americanos become available.
Trying to get ahold of one of my bosses to pull the trigger on this for the office. Love my nespresso. Only gripe is that you can only order online through nespresso but ordering is stupid easy and the free recycling bags that you send through UPS are great.
