I just ordered this, and I am so excited!!! I see that it is eligible for Asurion, which I will consider, but I’m curious if there’s any information as to whether it’s eligible for AppleCare when I buy it from Woot, since it is in new condition? Thanks!

It comes with the Apple warranty which means you can buy AppleCare.

What type of keyboard does this have? Anyone receive theirs yet? I got in on the previous MBA deal and it had a French Canadian keyboard so I had to return it. I don’t want to go through that process again. Can anyone confirm the keyboard on these?

@TheMang Hello! These have a backlit Magic Keyboard with traditional US keyboard layout. Thanks!

I ordered and just received this in the mail. When I go to check the warranty it said no active warranty. I tried to purchase apple care and no luck. On the phone with apple support right now trying to figure out what is going on. Hoping these really are not refurbished units…

Damn, this deal might be too good to be true… Can you update us on your warranty issue?

I did not have this issue. I was able to call Apple support and they were able to add AppleCare eligibility. All I had to do was provide proof of purchase to the agent, and then, after 10 minutes, they were able to update the eligibility.

As for the device, it appeared to be in brand new working condition, and came shrink wrapped

I will say that when I received the device, it did also say eligibility had expired. You just have to call and talk to them to get it sorted out.

For a Macbook like this eligible for Asurion, what price bracket should we select? This sale would make the device fall into the $1250-1499 bracket but this laptop was worth $2399 new. Can we upselect to a higher bracket for more coverage or will it not be eligible due to purchase price?

That would be a question for Asurion but if they ask for a receipt at some point, I’d think it should match what you selected.

Not included but eligible.

I have reason to believe these are not new, but refurbished.

Upon receiving, I noticed that the battery manufacture date was on April 18th of 2022 - for a device made in 2021. I checked this by using the battery’s serial number (did not open the laptop, this information is viewable while using the Macbook).

Therefore, it appears the battery has been replaced after the laptop was released.

Can someone clarify why it is advertised as new then, if components have been replaced?

edit: as the moderator below said, I could be wrong and maybe these were just made through 2022. I have no idea if this was a thing so sorry if I am potentially misinforming anyone.

The vendor has reassured us that these are brand new, sealed, never opened. While this is a Late 2021 model, I don’t know how long the manufacturing period was. it’s possible it went through April 2022.

In my case with the serial number it comes back stating coverage expired and I have been with Apple support for couple of hours and not much luck

Received yesterday
battery: 8 cycle
SSD usage: 3h 200+GB read/write
Warranty showing expired
I called Apple this morning to ask them to verify the purchase date by uploading a screenshot of the order details. The screenshot should include the Woot logo and series number (I added it by using F12 to edit the webpage). Now the warranty is valid until oct/2024

I would assume with that battery cycle count that these are not new?

That could be from manufacturing setup, imaging, testing, etc.

Very frustrated to find a scratch on mine. Debating returning it since warranty is expired (WTF happened to the promised 1 year limited warranty) so can’t even have the basic warranty let alone AppleCare+.
For those who had luck with Apple, did Woot quality as an authorized reseller and what sort of purchase proof did you use?

UPDATE: AppleCare support took care of it (1 year limited warranty + bought annual AppleCare+). I needed to add the serial number to the screenshot/printout of the Wooot receipt to get the purchase date updated (as recommended by the CS agent).

How do you know you didn’t cause it? Supposedly these are new.

What is the return policy on these?

If they aren’t new, I would consider that as well. But they really do seem to be new.

Also, my warranty was expired, too. I simply called Apple, provided a screenshot of my Woot purchase to the agent, and upon their request, edited it so that my serial number was on top, and they were able to give me 1 year of warranty + add 60 day eligibility for AppleCare. No problems there.
