Yeah. I’m a dumbo… Can anybody tell me what the mAh of this particular battery is? I used an only A to mAh conversion calculator, but it comes out as 1.5m mAh? That can’t be right… It says it has QC 3.0 via USB C so I was wondering if it would be handy as a backup phone charger as well.

Amps are a measure of current, mAh are a measure of capacity. That being said, not sure if NEXPOW publishes a mAh equivalent on this. It appears about the size of my jump starter, and that’s a 10,000 mAh equivalent. Just for very loose reference!

12800 Milliamp Hours from the mothership

The Amazon page for the Q10S has:

Battery Capacity 12800 Milliamp Hours,

So 1.28 Ah (ie. 1.28 Amps for up to an hour, 2.56 Amps for 30 minutes, etc.). These type of devices tend to use (super) capacitors, charged by the battery, to send a large current for a short amount of time. Drains the battery quickly, hence “up to 15 starts”.

Bummer! I just bought two of these a couple of days ago on the mothership for ~$38 a piece.

This is a nice deal!

Speaking about this style jump starter in general, I have a 1200mah (another brand) that I’ve used for years and it has started every car and pickup attempted on the first try. Lives in my car and has only been charged once in 2 or 3 years with 5-6 jumps. It doesn’t get too hot for too long here in NH, or I would reconsider storing it in summer.

I also have the style of charger of another brand that I bought at Costco. In addition to being something you can jumpstart your car with a weak battery, this is like a super battery pack that you can charge up your phone or your laptop or other devices and have power to spare. This depends on the device having USB-C or USB-A output ports.

Pretty handy to have around, particularly during storm seasons, when your house power may go out for several hours and you want something to run your laptop and phone on (as a hotspot). If that’s ever happened to you then you’ll understand the value of having one around.
