What is the Cubic Feet per minute rate? I see their cousin Zippy moves air at 17 ft^3/min and want an apples to apples comparison.
How do you like THEM apples?

My wife is my biggest fan, so I really don’t another one let alone two.

OK. We’ll forgive your “want” or “need” omission. It’s good to see you’re a one-fan man…but will your fan keep you cool like a Flippi V8???
Not sure if it’s been commented on yet, but just so you’re aware… these are made in China now, not in the US, as they previously were. Reports are the quality has dropped significantly since the manufacturing move.
Do these require an outlet, or can they run on batteries? I’d love to get these for camping if they can run on batteries.
I found these specs at HomeDepot.com
* Assembled Depth (in.) : 6.71 in
* Assembled Height (in.) : 8.20 in
* Assembled Weight (lb.) : 4.7 lb
* Assembled Width (in.) : 5.79 in
* Built-In Timer : No
*** CFM@.5 ESP : 46 ft³/min**
* Color/Finish : black
* ETL Safety Listed : Yes
* Number of Speeds : 2
* Recommended Room Size : Small Room
* Remote Control : No
* Safety Listing : Yes

I’ve purchased other Vornado products through Woot before - they’ve always been excellent in performance and quality.
And the ONE time a fan stopped moving during the Vornado warranty, I contacted Vornado directly and they sent me a free replacement without having to return the old one. All they asked was to cut the AC cord off the unit as close to the motor/unit as possible and dispose of the old fan.
I won’t hesitate to purchase Vornado again (yes, I’m in for these) and definitely recommend them to others.
The specs say:
Power: Plugs into household outlet, no batteries needed
So, no on the batteries…

They are only powered by an AC outlet - but you can always get a DC/AC inverter to power them off a car battery or lighter socket.
A lot of the portable power packs (the ones that you see advertised in multiple places that primarily jump-start cars) also have AC outlets on them as well - you shouldn’t have a problem finding some sort of portable power source to plug these into.

So, when it says “no batteries needed” I assume that means ‘no batteries possible’. I live where these is only 220v, so this one is evidently out for me unless someone has good news to the contrary.
Just read kramerd’s post. Bummer for me.

I can’t imagine there aren’t 220/110 transformers - or are they just not cost effective?
Last call on these - and I’m not surprised.
Vornado makes quality stuff.
I bought two of these a while back I had the fortune of getting different colors. I can’t remember what the price was back then. I have one currently running in my office and the other just sits around the house. I like to use it when I’m cooking to keep it cooler in the kitchen. These are solid fans and I would recommend them to anyone. The only detriment is that they aren’t that big so don’t plan on using them for from a long distance or in a larger room.
Thinking that this might work in my race car when I’m sitting in the staging lanes on a hot day…
I bought one of these last fall. It’s a great, simple fan, very stable and very quiet. The fan tilts and swivels to adjust air flow. Was generally impressed by the quality.
I just bought the “Vornado Zippi Desk Fan” over on Sellout.Woot.com
The wife and I run a booth at local fairs and festivals and we were using the larger Vornado floor fans… but these would work great on the display tables and they look real slick as well. I’m in for a set!
I’ve heard wonderful things about these fans and just had to get a few to try for myself.
just this morning as humid as it is, I was thinking it would be nice for woot to put up a fan of this type. unfortunately I’m too late “sold out” would’ve been in for 3. thank goodness we have several other zippi fans from last year. they will have to do, as they are a workhorse!
Just in case you missed this deal and feel bad like I did here is something to make you feel better… a review from new egg
-Basically, this fan is almost worthless, and “Moves Air 30 Feet” is a complete LIE. The fan in this unit is so weak, you can only feel the airflow within about 3-4 feet, and beyond that tiny distance there is no cooling effect whatsoever. A complete waste of money and Vornado should be absolutely ashamed for such dishonest marketing of a product.
a small fan for a smaller cooling area, the flippi really pushes the air on you. i love these smaller vornados for desk and nightstand cooling…
Slept right through it dang it!!!
picked one up in a woot off a few months back. Excellent purchase! Kudos to those you were able to get them before they sold out.
