Does this mean we’ll see discounted sour cream on Woot soon?
How ‘off’ does it smell? I might have to do the pinky test… but probably would just toss it and add extra butter. I keep sour cream way past the expiration date usually, anyway. But once it smells iffy, it’s out.
Sour cream always smells a little ripe. No mold, still good!
PSA: I’ve worked in QA/Food Safety… If it doesn’t pass the smell/visual test, for sure throw it out. That being said, even something that passes the smell/visual test could be bad. Also, expiration dates are typically quality dates, not food safety dates. In other words, it might not be the quality promised by the company, but is still edible. Most companies plan extra days of shelf life beyond the “expiration” date to cover their butts. The date that you should be more wary of is a “Use or Freeze By” date.
If you have EVER had food poisoning, this is a total nope-nope-nope!!! Using vacation days to visit scenic “head in the potty” is not awesome!
Trick question. Sour Cream by name is already sour. Can it really get worse?
Scrape off the top, use what’s underneath
There’s sour cream in the fridge? Weird, we don’t normally keep that around.
Toss it, then add bacon, more bacon, butter then more butter & maybe some more bacon!
Well, the ONLY real way to handle the situation is to just put it back in the fridge, behind the pickles, and let someone else deal with it later.
Let the dog smell it first, then proceed with caution
Maybe in my 20’s. But in my 30’s my stomach is not ok with these kind of risks.
Nobody ever died from bad sour cream! At least nobody I knew.
Isn’t sour cream already soured milk
So doesn’t the expiration date make it good!
Roll-your-own probiotics!!
Billions of little architects,
ready to “Pump You Up”…
Just buy more sour cream problem solved lol
What doesn’t kill you can still give you week long diarrea.
A minute on the lips…a midnight dash to the bathroom. Yes, I know it doesn’t rhyme.
