Ok… how can a pint container be ā€œXL family size?ā€ Isn’t it… a pint? That’s a specific unit of volume, there’s no large pint and small pint…

Deluxe ā€œpintsā€ are 24 ozs.

I had the same question. I did some investigating and found that the ā€˜XL Family Size Pint’ size is actually one and a half pints or twenty-four ounces. From what I can tell, market research indicated that customers were more likely to add the product to their cart when labeled as ā€˜XL Family Size Pint’ compared to descriptions like ā€˜a pint and a half’ or ā€˜between a pint and a quart.’ Personally, I prefer the clear and straightforward ā€˜twenty-four ounces’ as the primary designation.

That’s still only 1 and a half servings!

I do believe you meant to say, ā€œThat’s still only three quarters of a serving!ā€ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes but you are assuming all families are the same size. Have we considered what we call the 24 oz for a giant family or for a pint sized family?

My informal survey says that most people prefer not to be hoodwinked.

Got one of these as a gift. It was quickly re-gifted.

I had one of these and gave it to a co-worker. I did not care for it, too much of a hassle for me.

Ice cream is $2.50 a quart. I’ll just pay that I think.

Agree. I may buy ice cream 2 or 3 times per year.
(I know, so un-American…)

I’m not a fan of placing a piece of the system in the freezer overnight to provide the cold necessary for operation. The machines which have a built-in freezer are much better, in my humble opinion.

This is a great deal actually. I have one paid double and it’s better than i thought it would be. I make protein ice cream and it’s so good. Way creamier than regular ice cream and way healthier bc you control your own ingredients. I have one every night guilt free! I personally get 3 servings out of their regular pint.

True, but they are also a lot more expensive. (But I’d prefer those as well.)

I have this. It’s perfect for those who may have special dietary considerations. You control what’s in your food. I suppose it could also be looked at as getting back to responsibility vs paying the price for convenience. I also have a compressor ice cream maker, which is I think more convenient if you’re doing straight up ice cream recipes. The ninja excels at sorbets or other alternatives to high fat content ice cream. You respin the blade through the pint whenever it’s gotten too firm for the perfect light airy texture, and of course you can transform any other ice cream to a creami pint and spin it to soften/lighten it up.
I use both my makers probably equally - the compressor unit for fatty dairy, and the creami for things like straight up orange juice or a can of chunked/crushed pineapple, or if I want the mix-ins to be broken up into smaller pieces.

Will the cream turn me into a ninja?

Ill take a gallon if it does or however many xlarge family size pints needed to equal the same.
